Default Can I get rid of the new "Blu-ray" section?

I really don't need that unnecessary addition that takes up a quarter of my display.

We're testing it out to see how well it works (the idea is to give visitors a better overview of what's new and popular). If there is a need for such an option we will, I'm guessing it's those with lower screen resolutions that might want to down-size it (smaller covers) or completely remove it.

I already know what blu-ray is, and I know what blu-ray.com has to offer, as I've been coming here for years. I already have a review section to the right, and have "price drops", and "best deals" above, so why do I need a combination of both right in the middle? It's a poor design.

It might seem very redundant for the US view as we've pretty much reviewed all the big titles, but if you switch to for example UK you will get an idea how it adapts to different things that are happening.

We need to design the site both for new users and regulars. The feature is most useful to those that only casually use Blu-ray.com or are completely new to the site. It gives them an idea of what is happening, but our regulars (like you obviously are) might not find it as meaningful so as I said we will add an option for removing it.

Btw, it would be helpful if you that think it takes up too much space could post your screen resolution.

I would also like to know if I can turn this feature off.
I mean for people who like it great, but I really don't like it at all.
you have all the artwork from the "deals" above and then to have larger artwork below that.....well I just don't like the look and would prefer an option so that this "section" of images will not appear.
thanks.

I do too, but an option to turn it off would be welcomed by many I'm sure.

That's a good point and we should/will remove the About Blu-ray section for logged in members as it doesn't really fill a purpose.

Yes, there's no point in showing it to those that don't want it. If it's done via a user setting (logged in members only) or simply some show/hide functionality on the page is still to be decided. I will take a look at this tomorrow.

I also don't like and want it. So thanks for looking into an option to turn it off.

Yeah please turn it off. Personally I'd say remove it all together. It's an eye sore and makes the site look cluttered.

Here's how to disable the recently added Blu-ray Highlights section on the Blu-ray.com front page, which tries to automatically feature new and popular pre-orders, reviews, releases, coupons, etc all in one place.

1) Login to your Blu-ray.com account
2) Expand My Blu-ray.com on the right side of the page (click on the [+])
3) Select the "Site preferences" option at the bottom of the list
4) Uncheck "Show frontpage highlights" under the Front page settings
5) Scroll down and click "Update settings"

Enjoy the site as if nothing ever happened

Please keep in mind that it's still a work in progress that will be tweaked based on how you the users are responding to it and using it.
