I get no sound, and the network menu option is disabled. I tried a reset by holding VCR and it cleared, but still no sound.
Worked at night, didn't in the morning - no pops, clicks - it just didn't work when I turned it on. help? |

if your refering to ARC (Audio Return Channel) feature via hdmi you need to enable it in the menu of the 509; have you done that already?

SOLARRDADD:
Everything was working fine for 16 months or so. I had an XBOX, Samsung 52" TV, airport express. There is no sound at all, on any channel, even white noise on the speaker levels screen |

Pretty sure I have already but ill double check. What input on the 509 should it be set to? One thing I know for sure Is that when I turn the receiver on when tv is on, the volume on tv cancels out, and I'm able to see on my screen that I can put the volume up and down using my Samsung remote utilizing anynet with the 509 so I'm confused if I missed something.

I have the 509 and I regularly use it to play music using the USB port on the front and a thumb drive.
I do not have it connected to the TV but plan to do so in the future. The TV I am looking at does not have a USB port, but I would like to view photos on the TV from a thumb drive via the USB port on the front of the 509. Possible? |

I have a Panasonic 3D HDTV and a 3D Panasonic Home Theater System.
In order to enjoy better sound is buying a receiver a requirement? Would it work if I connect the receiver to the back of my 3D Panasonic Bluray Player using an HDMI cord? Or do I need to buy all new speakers which connect to the back of the receiver? I'm hopeless when it comes to tech stuff. The speaker wires for my Panasonic surround are not plug-in type which this receiver needs. So I'm hoping that an HDMI connecting the two devices works just as well. Please let me know. Also to enjoy better sound from my Panasonic surround speakers, I'm not sure what the settings MS stand for, and setting them between 1-5 does. What's the best settings for the surround speakers? Someone help me get the best sound a theater lover can achieve at home. ![]() |

if your on a budget and if you can find a cheap 2.1 system that has either optical or digital coax in then one of those two should be available from your tv and you can get digital stereo sound. if you want simulated surround and you have a slightly bigger budget, then a nice middle of the run soundbar will do the trick, don't expect miracles, but, some do sound pretty good. if you have some money saved up then a HTiB at 5.1 is the way to go. if you have a nice budget then get a good stand alone receiver and some speakers 5.1 bottom line is, you can still enjoy good sound from the tv with just the first option of 2.1 if they are nice speakers and a good subwoofer it's fine. keep in mind that most consumers STILL get their tv, and dvd/blu-ray audio from the tv itself! yeah, it's shocking but i can't tell you how many folks who's house i went to to find them listening to tv speakers. most people just don't want to deal with trying to connect anything. the other reason that 5.1 is important, it allows you to enjoy and experience the movie closer to the way the director & sound engineers have meant for you to. you can't get the feel of something sneaking up around with tv speakers or anything less than 5(or 4).1 but yes, if you want sound that's better than "tv speaker" sound, get a 2.1 system. alot of computer systems speakers that come with 2.1 tend to have inputs for digital audio and almost every tv made to day has either digital coax or optical audio out which would connect to the digital input (match the type) of the 2.1 system. no matter what you go with a sub (.1) is a must. even if you go with a 2 channel it must be a 2.1 that sub will make the difference in your experience. best of luck to you. if you could, please refine your questions. but, i hope this helps. keep us posted. |

Well I have a 3D Panasonic 5.1 surround system. I'm just asking if I need a receiver as well? The settings on my surround only allow me up to 6db and 5.0ms for the front l-r speakers.
So I figured if I bought a receiver it would improve my theater experience. The other question being, would my Panasonic 5.1 connect to a receiver that has no speakers and work through an HDMI cable? |
