Default Amazon Add-On Items

I was going to buy some peanut butter today on Amazon that my local stores don't carry. I am a Prime member, and the peanut butter cost $4.45. I didn't need anything else, but when I went to my cart I was unable to check out. Apparently Amazon has a new Add-On Items program for certain smaller items in which they won't ship the item unless your cart has at least $25 worth of items, even if you're a Prime member. I have nothing more I need right now so I guess I'll do without the peanut butter until there's something else I want to buy. Details of the program are below.

Thats the first Ive heard of this, I guess they are trying to recoup their losses from shipping. Kinda shitty for prime members

I first saw it about a month or two ago. Sounds pretty dumb.

The way I have been ordering online recently makes me think that I could find a use for such a program but I live in Canada and I see it's not offered here.

yes me and other Amazon prime members have been discssing this on Amazon and it sucks ass.. you know why? Because that idem still ships in it's own box.. it's a HUGE waste of resources.. i had a exahust gasket that I needed to spend an extra $25 in order to add that add-on item.. and Amazon sent a 2.5" gasket in a huge UPS express box.. I was more pissed off about that then the add-on.

I'm annoyed by this also..

Amazon is selling it as "Now we can ship smaller quantity items and offer them at a lower cost!" but the 3 add-on items I've bought were already being offered by Amazon and at a lower cost ($2.65 before the add-on items came.. $3.99 now, and I need to spend $25+ to order, even with Prime)

So I spent $25. I paid the extra cost, and then they shipped it in its own box anyways. Why??
