Default New Users Creating New Threads

Any chance new users can be blocked from creating a new thread until they've reached 5 or 10 posts? It should give them a chance to get a feel for the forums and see how everything goes down.

The amount of new threads reporting "Breaking News" or Hitler Youtubes that have been posted 1000 times is incredible!

Any chance of stopping threads from being created that pick on new users starting new threads. Haha just kidding, a decent suggestion

**cough**Hypocrite!**cough** Post histories are interesting aren't they.

Edit: There's no reason to block new users from creating threads. I think it's a good thing for new users to re-visit old topics without bumping 6 month old topics. It brings the issues back up to users who have joined since and also allows some new people to post their insight.

We have actually tried this before and while it probably kept some new members from creating threads they shouldn't it also frustrated a lot of new members that had legitimate threads they wanted to start so we decided to scrap the idea. It's usually better to simply moderate the threads once they are online.

Also, when big news hits the forums go crazy for 1-2 weeks but then they usually quiet down again so just have a bit of patience and things should be back to normal soon.

lol he just means your first post was a "new thread" ... I just checked too, it was. And it only took a few secs, click on your username "view posts" switch to last page to get to the first post.

Although atleast your thread was content-worthy if you will. Making polls and everything for your first post, who are you!?

I was thinking about this. Anytime there is a BIG announcement, the forum sees a tremendous increase in activity. The last two weeks have been incredible, and people want to share their excitment. It has actually been very nice. Not much trolling at all.

Thumbs up

I am a newbie, and I just wanted to let you guys know that this is the best forum I have ever been a part of. Everyone is kind, funny, and helpful. I was a member of a forum ( I don't want to name it), and everyone was rude and made racist remarks all the time or they were busy being wiseguys about every question asked. I appreciate the welcoming feel of I get around here, and keep it up.

I know in my case that I've been reading this forum for nearly 4 months and didn't feel moved to register until recently. Whether posts are pertinent or informative is pretty subjective and depends on how up to date you are with blu news. It's not like you have to respond or even read every new thread that pops up on the board. Sorry if the newbs have come to the boards to educate themselves. Feel free to be an old salty and not respond. Which seems to be exactly what happened on my first thread... nobody responded...
