Unhappy

Had a real shite time lately.
Split with the misses last week and robbed at gunpoint 2 days ago. Really ain't been in the mood for movies/Steelbooks lately. Was really looking forward to watching the new Total Recall movie and Expendables too but can't be arsed at the moment TBH.

I'm so very sorry to hear what happened mate. If it was your wife, then i'm even more doubly sorry to hear as that's an even tougher break. With just a GF the 'other fish in the sea' kind line works but then to be robbed at gunpoint, i cannot even begin to imagine all the things that go through your head.

Again, i'm so sorry to hear what happened. Movies can always be seen and bought but life is not something easily replaced

The day a steelbook has an important part of my life and thoughts is the day I would seriously reevaluate it.

Thanks man, yeah it was my wife. To be honest I cannot wait to get my arse back to London. This is the most reprehensible country I have ever been to.

+1. Especially when you look just above too with the gunpoint thing. Theyre nice to have but its just not that important.

Im thinking of Fight Club here but Ive got the steel of that which is very ironic of course!

This is the way I look at it. Its a passion and its alot healthier than using drugs or booze. I quit smoking and drinking and I figure I spend less money each year on steelbooks than I did with smoking and drinking.

Exactly - I've never smoked or drank excessively, but I know that there are much worse things that I could be into than buying steelbooks. Sure, it feels good when you have a collection you can enjoy, but I'd never, ever rate my addiction for buying steelbooks above my life - there are certain things that just aren't worth putting a price on, and a healthy and happy life is one of them.

Like others have said, I'm really sorry to hear this, mate - I hope that you feel better soon and manage to sort things out.

Every time an ebay user lists and sells an item as mint condition, and it comes with a scratch or dent.

I've accumulated about 40 SBs in the past 3-6 months (some used and some DVD). It all started wit that Best Buy sale, then the WM RE steels at 7.88, now I've spent more than I ever thought on these damn things.

But with all the reissues, do you think this will be like the 90's with comic books. Publishers started releasing so many comic exclusives (#1 with multiple covers, bagged and unbagged, etc) that it drowned the average buyer and the market just dropped out. Except for the die hard collector, it is difficult to keep dropping 25-30 bucks on these things, especially if you don't open them (like me). I remember when Best Buy released all those Disney steels. The only one I really liked was Sleeping Beauty, but I couldn't justify almost 40 bucks for it because if I bought one, I'd have to buy them all. (Now I wish I had). Anyway, I'm fairly new to this. I missed the Thor SB and want all the superhero steels (like everyone else), but I know I have to slow down ..

I actually wish Best Buy would always do preorders on their steels. That way I could get the steel for relatively cheap and wait for a good deal on the movie, instead of shelling out 30 bucks on release day.

(I did get Resident Evil Afterlife SB today at a pawn shop today for around 8 bucks, so I'm happy)

I try to limit my self for 1 steelbook a week that way I don't have a lot money going out at once. But now a lot of steels are being released and some cool box sets witch I don't want to miss like iron man 1 so I've preordered a lot,but when I see the package on the floor it's like Christmas every week so I say **** it and let them come

Actually the '90s comic book analogy is a great one to compare to this year's releases.

Between Best Buy US and Play.com we have seen more releases this year than any other year before.

I don't know if I've ever seen anyone outraged at a dent on their steelbook... The most I can imagine is them sending/taking it back and asking for a refund...

If your a steelbook collector, steelbooks ARE YOUR LIFE!

I see the same names here time and time again. Honestly, denial is definitely the first sign of addiction. Especially if you have more than 10 steelbooks in your preorder list.

If you can't see the rainbow leading you to the pot of gold, then your blind.
