Raise the Titanic Blu-ray

Here's an odd one. A collector told me that he has been approached to work on extras for a Blu-Ray edition of RAISE THE TITANIC.

I can't wait for Ann Archer to put the wormy on the hooky in 1080p.

Wow...I don't think that movie ever made to DVD, but a possible Blu-Ray? I think Fox might be reaching if this is true. Unless it's tied in with James Cameron's "Titanic" coming to Blu-Ray as well Pardon me while I speculate.

So would I! Ghosts of the Abyss is really amazing.

RTT was put out in a full screen edition here in the States. There's a widescreen version in the UK and a widescreen version in Denmark (maybe?).

Now what I would like to see on Blu-ray would be Robert Ballard exploring the great shipwrecks. That would be cool.

I wonder tho...was it shot on video or film. If shot on video, we're much stuck with 420p from what I understand.

"Raise the Titanic" was a real stinkeroo of a movie. can't they choose a better movie instead wasting resouces on a bomb???

It was stinky, John. But, I assume that it's not going to be a studio release. And it may be years down the pike. The DVD took until just last year to come out.

If they're planning all sorts of extras, it may take a while to unravel rights. There is a mockumentary hosted by Doug Llewelyn of all people...that I'm sure will be required. Plus there is footage that was shot for a prologue that shows the ship sinking. I know there were a lot of deleted scenes, but I hear that the rightsholders don't have them.

It may come out at the same time as TITANIC to piggy-back on that release.

CBS/Fox owned the rights at one point, before the movie fell into limbo--
I'm guessing Cameron's boat is the ONLY reason this one's being considered for a piggyback...Raise's one of those movies you'd look at the title and think should be good if you'd never seen it in your life.

(And yes, even though it does take three hours to get it up and float their boat, look up "Anticlimax" in the dictionary and find this movie there.)

Actually, this was a TV movie from the 70s. I have a copy on DVD and I have to say that the special effects were truly amazing for a movie back then. It starred David Selby (of Dark Shadows fame).

Hmmm - maybe I am wrong. I could have sworn that this was a made-forTV movie. I was just looking on IMDB.COM and it doesnt seem to indicate as such. It also was from 1980 (I suppose that was as close to the 70s as you're going to get!) : )

Anyway - I actually enjoyed the film.

Cool, we can now count how many ping pong balls it takes to raise the Titanic.

I would much rather have the other Titanic, even though the best actor in that one was the Ship

I think I was 5 when I saw this movie of VHS & I comply forget if this movie is any good????????? really is it any good???????? I was like 2 when it was released in 1980.

Wow, this is pretty interesting news, if it holds up!
I'd love to see this movie again, after about 25 years!

This a great movie I hope this is true, but the quality will probably be pretty low. Not a great acted movie but a guilty pleasure for me. I pop in the VHS once or twice a year.

Looks like it will be in good hand with Shout! Factory. I wonder why they never announced this?
