United Kingdom The Dino King aka Speckles The Tarbosaurus 3D Blu-ray (2012) [Region Locked]

The Dino King 3D

http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Dino-Kin.../dp/B00838N3QY

Does anyone know if this a native 3D movie
or a poorly converted one?

Synopsis

IN A TIME BEFORE MAN, when Dinosaurs ruled the earth, a young Tarbosaurus fights a desperate battle to survive after becoming separated from his family. Lost in the deepest depths of the hostile jungle, hungry and alone, the Tarbosaurus happens upon a much needed ally and companion in the form of a young female Tarbosaurus, together they help each other survive through the treacherous and forbidding terrain. Many years later, now an adult and with a family of his own, the brave Tarbosaurus returns to his birthplace, only to find a monstrous, terrifying T-Rex, now the king of his family’s hunting grounds ruling the land with a ferocious power. The Tarbosaurus must challenge him once and for all to regain the land and become The Dino King.

Painstakingly recreated in breath taking animation The Dino King will let you experience what is was like to walk with these prehistoric beasts.

Synopsis

After his whole family is killed by an evil, old, one eyed Tarbosaurus, Speckles, a baby Tarbosaurus, must run away and learn to survive on his own. We follow Speckles on this epic journey as he learns to fight and hunt. While this is happening, evil One Eye has taken over as the alpha male and dominant predator. Can Speckles defeat One Eye and avenge his family?
I've done some major research into this one (i.e. typed it into Google search ) and so far haven't found much information on it either. So to me, that more than likely means that it's not very good and/or a rush conversion job of a poor quality movie. I might be wrong though, but personally I'm not willing to risk spending my hard earned dosh on something dubious like this until it's at least been reviewed on a a few different websites. There's just too much dodgy 3D out there at the moment.

Distributed by Studio Canal, so who knows. It may end up being a sleeper hit within the 3D community, or just plain suck.

They should have a 3D trailer so we can judge the 3D for Dino King. Dinosaur the movie also needs re-rendering to 3D.

As far as Dino King being made with computer CGI animation (computer generated imagery/CGI), chances are very good they filmed it in 3D with virtual 3D cameras. It would be kind of foolish to convert a 3D computer animated film unless it was an ancient one and all the original files were lost or there was too much compositing done, or render time.

Although the animation looks very nice I'm still no clearer as to what this actually is. Is it a documentary style movie or is there a family friendly storyline with anthropomorphic dinosaurs that talk? It's all very confusing.

OMG...how irritating is that girl's voice-over?

This is obviously aimed at young children, which is a shame because the CGI looks great. Now if only they had coupled it with a decent live action story (in the style of Jurassic park or Journey) I'd have picked this up. It does seem like a weird combination...ultra realistic Dinosaur CGI with an annoying Kiddie narration. "Oh mum...look at the cute baby T-Rex. Oh look Mum, it's nibbling on your arm....Mum, Mum....MUM!!!

Personally, I don't think I could watch this the whole way through as I'd have to turn the sound off!!

"My face was covered in placenta...er, umm, speckles!!"

These dinosaurs look really good. I'm surprised they're going for a toddler audience, as most toddlers would be scared by these dinosaurs I'd guess. I'll have to take another look to be sure.

But the so-called "experts" say toddlers should NOT be watching any 3d since it's bad for their eyes because their eyes are still developing at that age.

despite what the so-called "experts" say, I don't see how you can prevent it. Toddlers will be seeing 3d pictures (and maybe movies also) when glasses-free 3d pictures are all over the place.

And so they'll still be having to focus their eyes on different depths than the objexts are actually at while their eyes are still developing. (what the "experts" say is bad for them).

Like in "Back to the Future 2". "The shark still looks fake".

Actually, I have had 3d photographs here you don't need to wear any glasses to see for over twenty years.

From looking at the YouTube clip, ditch the cheesy voice overs and give me an IMAX style narration then:

Okay, I took one for the team and ordered this. It just arrived today. I am continually surprised at how fast stuff I order from UK gets delivered and I always choose standard shipping.

Anyway, this is locked to region B, so be warned. Yes, there is the terrible voice over and I wish it had more of a documentary style narration. It does sound like it is for children, but the makers of the movie seemed to be striving for realism, so I don't know why they chose to do this. I doubt the original dialoge was in English, but I haven't looked to see if there were other languages. But, as the dino grows up, the voice becomes more mature. I don't know why some movies, anime especially, choose to use adult women to do the voices of young boys. Also, there is quite a bit of dinosaur on dinosaur violence, which could be scary to younger children, but from what I did watch, there wasn't a drop of blood shown.

While I haven't watched the entire movie, the 3D seems very strong, lots of good depth and quite a few dinosaur heads popping out. The animation of the dinosaurs was very good, not excellent, but a bit above what you would generally see on Discovery.

I am not typically one to give reviews, but I hope this helps all those that are curious. I may update this more when watch the entire movie, which should be sometime this weekend.

I remember posting about this one a while back, it's a 3D korean dinosaur movie, which follows on from a 2D series that played in Korea earlier. I was wondering if it would ever hit the west and here it is I guess, so it's off to Amazon UK for me, 10 pounds for some 3D dino action is not a tough decision, if the narration sucks I'll mute the sound.

With this and Dinosaur Planet 3D out it really is a bit of a 3D dino-thon atm.

Well, they warn to be aware the kid doesn't watch 3D unsupervised as their eyes are still developing, though they can still watch it.

Yeah, I remember BTTF2's Shark hologram billboard. I heard someone actually invented a floating skateboard somewhere years ago.

Good review, thanks. Region B 3D won't play in the US on a PS3 I'm guessing? Pal or NTSC I read doesn't matter for blu ray?

True, but Bart Simpson does not have the typical voice and does not sound like an adult woman trying to sound like a child. It is not just animation. There are some horrible dubs of foreign films to English that do the exact same thing. I know it is a lot easier just to do it this way, but it typically comes off sounding awful.
