Amazing 9/11 Before and After Photos

I figured I would share these with everyone today, on the 11th anniversary of 9/11...

In June of 2001, I traveled to New York City for a week-long training class for work. I rode the Amtrak Train from Lancaster to NYC, and on the ride up through northern New Jersey, I happened to snap a photo of the distant New York City skyline with my camera through the train window...





My coworker also had a training class in New York scheduled for later that year, in September. Little did he realize his trip would be just a few days after the 9/11 tragedy. After that fateful day, but before he left for his trip, I had shown him the photos I took during my trip, including the one of the skyline from the train window. He was also riding the Amtrak train to the city, so I told him to try to get a similar skyline photo as an "after" picture, to show what the skyline now looked like without the twin towers. On the train a few days later, he actually remembered my request and snapped a single photo on the way up past the city...

When he returned from his trip and showed me the photos he took, I noticed his skyline shot he had taken, and recognized something familiar about it. I dug out my photos I had taken 3 months earlier, and pulled out my skyline photo. When we compared the two shots, our jaws just dropped - the foreground buildings in the two photos were identical, and not only that, they were positioned in the same perspective with the background structures - My coworker had unknowingly snapped his single skyline shot at the EXACT SAME SPOT on the tracks as I had taken my photo, in an Amtrak train traveling 90 miles per hour - that spot on the tracks would have flown by in just an instant, and he had caught it for a second time on film...

I'll second that. I was 17 years old and was a senior in High School when it happened and when I walked into my fourth period class I was confused because my teacher had on the news but after awhile I began to understand what was going on. My heart goes out to the thousands of family who lost their loved ones that day. Never will I forget 9/11.

I really don't think he was saying he had forgotten it. I don't think it's possible to forget such a tragedy.

Read between lines. He was basically saying he's tired of hearing about it and that is straight up disrespectful to those who died.

Are you in the media? Because the spin you put on his post is pretty disrespectful in itself.

No one will ever forget that day. It was horrible and I am sorry for your loss, but please don't go looking for a fight.

First off RIP to those that perished & continue to perish from lung issues due to the cleaning up process.

Need proof 9-11 was a fake terrorist attack, seismic proof bombs were planted and detonated before the planes hit the twin towers now available!

It's got some lovely photos of nano-termite effects & of course don't forget the twin towers burned for over 2 weeks (before the thermite ran out of energy). I suppose some people are still under the illusion only 2 buildings fell in NY, instead of the perfectly 'pulled building 7'. So two planes can destroy 3 buildings. Those terrorists created by the CIA did a good job.

Who said I forgot, I never once said those words. I simply said I lived through the event once and I do not care to relive it again. I have been to Ground Zero, I saw the holes in the ground, I heard the silence at the site when my wife and I were there, the silence at the site is eery. Believe me I will never forget, I just have no desire to relive the day as it commonly happens on 9/11. I am sure its the same for people who were alive when pearl harbor was bombed.

exactly, I come from a military family (like 90% of my immediate and married into family are in the military or ex military). They DON'T like re-living the horrors what happened back then. The closer you were to an event like that the more likely you're willing to "relive" the experience. Dishonoring an event and feeling too emotional to want to relive it are two completely different things
