Probably still a little ashamed and counting the $150 million they got for supporting HD DVD for only 6 months...

I think between the end of spring and the end of summer is when they will stop al HD-DVD distribution.

I think they are still working through the legalities of the whole deal with Toshiba. $50 mil to Para, $100 mil to DW, but how much of they gotten, and how much are they owed, and how much is left that Toshiba will not pay them. Probably a big nightmare.

What's curious though is that both Universal and Paramount's websites both prominantly display HD DVD. I've been a webmaster before and could make that simple change in about 5 minutes and had the site live and updated. It's a simple graphic change. That, and no "Recent News" notices either. Seems like both studios are begrudginly blu.

Defeat is a tough call my friend. Admitting that their side lost on their official site is TOO painful at the moment. Notice the official look-and-sound-of-perfect site lack of update?

Both Studios basically staked their reputations on HD-DVD and now they have no choice.

But I'm sure new releases from both will be BD day and date going forward and catalogs will come once they get into gear. Especially with BD sales accelerating due to the death of HD-DVD.

I have to know what in the nine hells will it take to get you people to stop with the chicken little drama queen acts?
IT IS DONE.
WE HAVE UNIVERSAL.
WE HAVE PARAMOUNT.
IT IS DONE AND IT IS OFFICIAL.

Look...I am the GOD of cynics, and it is OVER.
I and I know others also are tired of the "but but but he said..." threads.
Let it go and enjoy the ride.

OK..but some of us would like some encouragement about Blu-ray from Universal and Paramount..if they were excited about it means more $ spent on transfers which equals higher quality transfers..so far even though I'm super excited about them being with Blu-ray now..they don't sound like they're totally with us.

Paramount made out like bandits in this case. They got $150 millions dollars for very little work (6 months), and now they have the most anticipated movie(s) with Transformers and Shrek 3. People on bluray will scoop this up as soon as they are released. They lost nothing from their decision to go HD for 6 months, they did gain $150 million though

Even though Helen Keller could see that the end was within months, Universal and Paramount were both blindsided by Toshiba's sudden decision.
Be lucky that they even game press releases of support already because even those had to be rushed.
They still have to sort out authoring and printing not to mention encoding and it will take time.
They were not prepared to immediately kicked out into the cold.

... For a change! Big plus one.

I seriously don't beleive that we know how to move on without the Ying and Yang of HDM yet. We have been intrenched in FUD from our own side and theirs for two years. Let the reprograming commence! Time to move on. Do you understand fully that evey up and comming movie trailer is no longer a nail biter hoping it's a studio that supports BD? We have ALL studios now. The new era (like DVD) has just broken wide open. Its peace time now and the future is blu all the way!

...Unless

Toshiba really is playing possum right now. Sent out secret agents Universal and Paramount to infiltrate into BD secretly recruiting studio and plan on resurfacing just before the holidays with total studio support themselves.

Other then that. I think we should all stop worrying.......

That sux, because Paramount quickly bolted from blu-ray last year and shutdown production and deliveries immediately. Now they are left speechless.

Fight you beautiful animals! Fight!!

Seriously though why does it seem like some really miss the war and all the drama?

I welcome Paramount when ever they decide to release again. I hold no grudge and only wish I got a taste of that fine wine they got from Toshiba too.
