I also missed this in theaters, and it's going to be a true "blind buy" I read "partial" reviews, and that's about it.... but it looks so good, I can't pass it up.

Approximately a month ago I wrote to Disney and asked about the Region Code. I mentioned that this movie will be a HD-DVD Title in Europe (that was before the recent happenings) and therefore this would be Region Free on HD-DVD.

The answer came quickly, within 2 days, but the answer was that they weren't sure about the Region Code.

I keep my fingers crossed but to be honest I have little hope....

Thanx for the reply. Yeah, I'm the same. Gone Baby Gone was a recent Miramax release and that was region coded so I expect the same for No Country

The sad thing is even if Paramount release a Blu-ray version in the UK fairly soon, we'll end up with a HD-DVD port rather than a BD optimized version.

been waiting on this film for about 2 months, since i first saw the trailers. didnt see it in the cinema, as i think cinemas are terrible nowadays. you can pay less to watch the movie on high def and keep it than you would to go see it and have little idiots talking and screamin all the way through it. i have been religiously checking movietyme every day to see if its released yet. and its due within the next few days i'd say, as it has moved right to the top of the coming soon list, bee movie is also released on the same day as no country, and they have that available now. the only problem is that im in the uk, so im just prayin its region free. i have been like this with a few films recently, and to my surprise everytime im wating they end up region free, but i am aware that sooner or later one i want will be region coded, it would be such a shame if it was this, as it looks awsome, and could very well be one of the best films of the year.

so how likely is their for a double dip on No Country for Old Men, whether it sweeps the Oscar's or not (hope they do, love this flick), i have read the Coen Brothers aren't known for double dips.

Just as a warning to people: NOT EVERYONE LOVES THIS FILM.

It is practically a love it or hate it thing from what I've been reading.

I personally don't think it's the greatest thing...but I need to see it again. I plan on picking it up.

My coworker brought in a bootleg dvd version that he got for $3. Popped that in the Mac and the damn thing looked really good. I had to walk away not to ruin the movie for myself.
