Default Lair analog control patch confirmed

http://ps3.qj.net/GDC-08-Lair-analog.../49/aid/114261

I owned Lair and just hated the 6 axis controls so I sold it. Mabey Ill have to pick it up again after the patch is released to be able to choose analog controls.

Sorry if this is a repost

take from the article

"For those of us who have spent some quality time with Factor 5's dragon flight simulator for the PlayStation 3, Lair, here's some very good news: the highly-rumored upcoming patch that would give players the option to choose analog controls is now confirmed, and has an ETA of this year's first quarter. Yes!"

I'm borrowing this game from my neighbor. I love dragons, excellent graphics, awesome soundtrack, but the controls... annoying so far. Haven't gotten far so maybe I'll get used to the control scheme. Then again, maybe not. Sometimes, I just want to relax on my couch and not have to worry about the leveled placement of the Sixaxis while playing a game. In fact, I shouldn't have to. Let's see what happens after the patch is released.

Jesus man, do you really have 45 PS3 games? Are those all retail or are there some PSN games in there? I thought I had a lot with my 19 +6 PSN

Back on topic...yeah If this is true I want this game. Plus theres a plethora of used copies to choose from

Please, please, please let it be true. And please fix the stupid lock-on while you're at it, Factor 5!

I wonder/hope that review sites will update the game score when this patch comes out, it could really provide a massive boost to the game's rating

New info. Sounds very promising.

You thought you heard the last of Lair, didn't you? While at GDC, a man we will call DugBuzz, states in his IGN blog, seeked out the Factor 5 booth and played around with their new build of Lair that incorporated an analog function. He made a comment about the guy who reviewed the game on IGN after playing the new version: "Greg needs to give them a new score. It was kind of clear that Factor 5 put in the extra effort a little begrudgingly, but the results were amazing. This might push me over the edge into the "must buy PS3" territory."

So there you have it. If you haven't played Lair, or rented it and had a bad taste in your mouth, should this analog patch (which also might fix other things -- just an assumption) come out, we'll let you know. It's then your call whether or not to try it out again, but if this guy has decent tastes, it might just make a potentially great game great. Get it?

I would guess that most/all will not. They review retail copies - they won't re-score a game based on a downloadable update as not everyone can get it (not everyone has the internet on their PS3) - and frankly this patch is WAY too late. Didn't the game come out in August?

I happen to own this game though (was free with my PS3) and i hate the control. Very much looking forward to the patch.

I must be in the minority, I love this game and more so now since I picked up the dual shock 3. Yes it does not support vibration, but the sensitivity on the six axis dual shock 3 seems a lot "smoother" with this game. I was trying to see if it supported vibration like a number of titles do and than bam I noticed that the controls were a little tighter. Not bad before, but really a lot easier to control in general. Just my two cents, do not know if anyone else has tried out this game with the dual shock 3.
