No precise date yet. EngadgetHD reported an October date, but they misread an article. It's still set for sometime in April.

Some retail stores will be selling the Samsung BDP-1200 for $799.99. From a reliable source I have heard that some of the Internet discount websites once they receive shipments they will be selling the Samsung BDP-1200 for around $605 dollars.

I've already stated this in a previous post, but I guess I'll repeat it again. Best Buy's inventory system has it arriving on 05-07-07. That should be the magic day for this unit to go on sale. Or at least within a few days of that day.

I stopped in my Circuit City and they have it, even though they didn't know it. I was wondering if anyone picked it up and had some preliminary reviews.

Thanks for the tip! I did pick one up at my local CC (who also didn't have it on display, yet). Can't hook it up 'till tomorrow, though.

This is a bizarre phenomenon but it seems common. I have the same thing occur regularly at my local Best Buy in regard to BD movies. Several times I've stopped in to pick up a new release, which you assume would be featured prominently in their BD section, to find it not there at all and no associate seems to know if they have it. Then I'll find some sitting on a service cart near the front of the store or something. Last week when I went to get 'Happy Feet' same thing. Then I asked a worker standing there and she said they sell their new releases so fast she doesn't bother stocking it, she just leaves it on the cart not far from the register.

Thought it was a strange approach but maybe a bit insightful re demand for major releases.

I went to Samsung's website, and they are advertising 5.1, not 7.1?
Are any players capable of 7.1? Are any movies even out in 7.1? If not, why did I spend a bunch of money on a 7.1 Denon receiver?

Another question, I see the BD-P1200 does HDMI 1.3 My Denon 4806 says it is only HDMI 1.1 What will that do or not do?

As far as I know you need HDMI 1.3 to get the full sound capability i.e TrueHD etc etc.
