Default Daniel Day-Lewis is the best, sorry.

You make a poll with that list and Daniel Day-Lewis is third? Are you kidding me..., Bale???

My Left Foot
Last Of The Mohicans
Gangs Of New York
and now this ridiculously powerful performance in There Will Be Blood, not to mention that the other films he's done, as well as these, have all been with him undergoing every last human characteristic almost down to the DNA for him to truly be that character. He has no rival.

And what the hell is up with these forum posts, Vantage Point? Be Kind Rewind? Jesus Christ...and these crappy tv shows, you guys really pick the bottom of the barrel.

he was awesome in In the Name of the Father. He's an absolute lock for the Oscar tomorrow! I'll bet my PS3 and entire blu collection on it!

and they have all been well deserved. It will be his 3rd Oscar win, and he should have won for Gangs of New York. This guy is a wonderful actor. I really think he could have won the Oscar this year without ever saying a word. He could have done it on facial expressions alone. I loved everything about his performance in There Will Be Blood.

If Day-Lewis wins today, it will be his 2nd win. He won for My Left Foot. He lost to Tom Hanks (Philadelphia) and in 2003 to Adrien Brody (his wonderful performance in The Pianist).

Hardly a loss based on performance as much as Academy politics.

I may never see another performance as powerful as the one he gave in There Will Be Blood.

I'm going to get a prosthetic attached so I can give it 3 thumbs up.

I can't say enough positive affirmations when it comes to Daniel Day-Lewis. He's one of the greatest actors of all time, and one of the best that I've ever seen in my lifetime. When I think of actors that have a powerful on-screen presence, usually Robert De Niro and Daniel Day-Lewis are the two that come to my mind.

There's not a single movie that I've seen Daniel Day-Lewis in that I would describe as a letdown. The man is a modern marvel, and like a fine wine he ages wonderfully, as There Will Be Blood can attest to. His performance in There Will Be Blood is possibly one of the greatest performances that I've seen in a film.

Daniel Day-Lewis is just... extraordinary. That's all I can say about this guy because that's what he is.

It's funny, but not a lot of people mention 'In The Name of The Father'. He was sensational in this film, and the film itself is a very gripping and riveting movie that is well worth multiple viewings.

That's one of my favorite films, especially since it's based on a true story. I can't think of another actor out there that would have sufficed as Gerry Conlon.

So in essence, what you're saying is that you'd be labeled as a movie buff?

There was a gala screening of There will be Blood on Saturday night, as part of the Dublin Film Festival. On the way in, my friend and I walked past Daniel Day-Lewis & Rebecca Miller on the red carpet, I hope we weren't breaking some sort of etiquette!!!
The film itself was magnificent, and Day-Lewis's performance mesmerising.
Afterwards there was a Q&A with Todd McCarthy from Variety (just with DDL, Paul Thomas Anderson was in Berlin picking up the Golden Bear), which was really interesting and very relaxed.
Afterwards my friend and I were walking around to where I'd parked, and at the side/back entrance to the cinema there's Daniel Day-Lewis (with his wife again) having a smoke. I've never been one to bother "celebrities", so we didn't hang around, just had a few short words with him and wished him well next Sunday. He came across as really down to earth and not at all aloof or "Hollywood" like.

Maybe Philadelphia you could say that for but Brody gives an amazing performance in The Pianist. He carries most of the film by himself.

So did Day Lewis in Gangs. Bill the Butcher is one of the great bad guys in movie history.

I'm not saying anything against his performance. For me, personally, his performance in Gangs is in my top 5 of all time. I'm just saying that good acting, and not simply politics got Brody a win.
