solid film with some terrific acting that makes up for the huge holes in the plot.
Emily Blunt is terrific, moreso than Bruce or Gordon.

The Bruce Willis makeup was jarring and more of a distraction than a help.

3 out of 4 stars, 3.5 out of 5.

scary to think the Yaris is the car of the future.

After seeing this (I loved it by the way), the biggest question I came away with was:

[Show spoiler]Would I shoot the Future Me if I knew that it would set me up financially for the next 40-50 years? The answer is yes (sorry, Future Me )

Fantastic film. Reminds me of how I felt when I sat in a theater of 4 people on opening day for The Matrix.
You must have skipped The Dark Knight Rises thread...

The second half is still not as good as the first but it held up better after a secondviewing imo

Hopefully cloud atlas can be as good and it'll be a good year for sci-fi

Nobody laughed in my audience. Though there were only like 15 of us. I thought it was great myself. Creepy indeed.

Good Sci-Fi! I gave it a 3 out of 4. Slowed down in the middle & had plot holes. But with time travel there are always plot holes.
[Show spoiler]I thought the kid, Cid, needed to die as he would be a worse monster as he got older. No way around it. That much power with No One to check it. I doubt any child could grow up w/o becoming a terror in such circumstances. Besides we have the timeline where neither Joe met the mother & killed her in front of Cid & he still became a terrible person.

Still a very good film.
Agree, the ending made no sense. If you're JGL
[Show spoiler]and you let future Joe kill the kid, not only is he prolonging his own life, he's saving his future wife and the future from this evil kid - like having the chance to kill Hitler as a young boy. Instead, he kills himself over some girl he met 5 minutes ago, just in the faint hope that she can "save" the kid by bringing him up right. WTF??? Idiotic. Didn't buy it for one second.

The entire point of the ending was sacrifice.
[Show spoiler]The mother was willing to sacrifice, Bruce was sacrificing his morals to save his wife. Yet the only sacrifice was for JGL to close the circle. The same events would just continue to play out. Whose to say Bruce would have been able to kill that boy. What do you think would have happened if he watched his mother die for the second time. He would have ripped Bruce to pieces.

JGL's actions are completly illogical...
[Show spoiler]either or both he and Bruce could go after Cid, there is no need to kill the mother - and you can't tell me the kid makes a miraculous escape from two of them. JGL's character has everything to gain by helping Bruce to kill Cid 1) he extends his life beyond 30 years 2) he saves his future wife 3) he saves the future from this evil kid 4) he saves the lives of all the other loopers who get closed. As opposed to - let me kill myself just in the off chance it will do some good. You can't tell me that self-preservation wouldn't be his primary motivation, along with the chance to make a change in the world...I just don't buy it

It's pretty disappointing, I enjoyed it until it gets to the farmhouse....then it started to drag and change into some lame Signs/Omen kind of thing

You missed the point,
[Show spoiler]the kid wouldn't get killed, he would escape anyway, and give him motive to kill the loopers. The theme of the film is fate and allowing a future to the young kid, who would go one to better stuff (or worse, but that would diminish the point of the ending).

So what you're telling me is Bruce Willis, who has
[Show spoiler] singlehandedly mown down a complete army of goons 10 minutes earlier is somehow not going to be able to chase down a 10 year old boy and kill him?

But
[Show spoiler] JGL knows he doesn't go on to better stuff - in fact he literally says this to the mother 5 minutes earlier. So in the face of all hard evidence to the contrary - like his future self explicitly telling him how Cid turns out - he decides to let "fate" take its course, and *kill himself*. Despite throughout the rest of the film he is all about self-preservation (he even rats out his best friend) and selfishness, yet in the last 5 minutes the farm girl shags him and his character does a complete, illogical 180, just to service the ending. I hate that kind of fraudulent screenwriting.

So does the pony-tailed villain team up with the woman scientist to spread the virus around or is she actually going to stop him once the airplane lands?

You're looking for reasons to complain. It's blatantly spelled out for us why what happens does. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's illogical.

[Show spoiler]The kid was already running, and we see that there's no way he hit the kid, because the mother is standing right in the path for the bullet. That means the kid runs, Willis never catches him, and the kid slowly descends into his hellish and overlord ruling as "The Rainmaker". But Young Joe, who's actions have been purely selfish, realizes that because of his future selfs selfish desires, that this is why this all happens. If he kills himself before any of this happens, then the future is a better place and Cid never becomes the Rainmaker. He realizes everything he is doing isn't right. Not to mention, the blatant mother issues he has, where he's talking about missing her. He's not going to take another kid's mother away from him. Joe just realized what the best outcome for the future was, and that was one without himself. He ends the loop, and everything turns out better. It makes plenty of sense.
