Cartoon will never be HD, the film is long gone for it, and even if they have it they wouldn't spend the money
I saw the original Ghostbusters in one of the HD channels, and it looked pretty good. I think that there will be a lot of interest in this movie, much more than for 20 Million Miles to Earth.

Ghostbusters must be far and away Sony's number one catalouge title requested for a Blu-ray release.

Probably more on a third movie unfortunately... I have read a lot about it before they are talking about doing a new CGI movie like TMNT instead of live action.

I actually already posted this news yesterday, and also agree that the announcement will include the Blu-ray release of at least the first movie

I think a DVD release of the cartoon isn't out of the question either.

I don't think the release of a trailer really counts as an announcement, so i don't think it's that. Could be a ghostbusters comic - or was there already one not too long ago?

I do think that the announcment will include some new videogame info though - and I can't wait.

This defintiely could be - Bill said CGI is the only way he'd do a third.

B Murray is a coward for not wanting to make a live-action 3rd because of his age

But it would suck without him, so I am kind of 50/50 on it

It would look rather silly if he and the gang were running around like 20+ years ago.

If it's the original cast voicing the CGI animation, and the artwork fits with the Ghostbusters world, I'm all for it.

True, but it would have to be great animation and not and kiddy stuff...all original stuff too like the same NYC firehouse and Ecto-1

Big Ghostbusters announcement at San Diego Comic Con

For those wondering, that's Thursday, July 24 - Sunday, July 27
I'd love the first 2 films on Blu--big part of my childhood in those films.

Bill Murray has often said they would only do a 3rd movie if the entire cast came back, so I don't think it's possible, but I remain hopeful. Even if they just cameo and a new generation of Ghostbusters is there, it would be awesome. If Harrison Ford can do Indy after 60, then Bill, Dan, Harold, Ernie, Annie, Sigourney and Rick can come together for GB3. Oh, and little Oscar.

I'm sure they'd all come back. Sigourney Weaver has a pretty light schedule these days, and Rick Moranis is semi-retired, but he has recorded Louis for the new video game

I do hope the GB movies come out on Blu-Ray, but I doubt that a Blu-Ray release would specifically be the 'big' news for Comicon. As of now Blu-Ray is still a pretty niche market... if that's all they had come the time of this 'big announcement', a lot of people would be disapointed.

Now, they might have some other big news, with a few additional bonus footnotes to add, including a BD release of the movies. That would be cool.

One of the few films I'd give the BD upgrade from DVD. Hope it happens.

I think they will definitely announce a Blu-Ray release for the movie sometime this year. At least I hope they do, as it's one of my favorite flicks of all time.

Maybe this is where they will reveal the new Ghostbusters video game and a tie-in line of comics or something. I think it's based on the Gears of War engine. All the main players are listed as voice talent for the game in their IMDB profiles.

I expect a massive Ghostbusters all-media blitz in Q3 of this year. Videogame, new dvds, BDs of both the first and second movie, etc sometime around Halloween. This is not inside information but reading the tea leaves Sony seems to want to exploit the franchise to its maximum potential and this would be a good way to do it. It will be interesting to see what Ghostbusters 2 looks like on BD. It's one of the grainiest movies I ever remember seeing in a movie theater. I can already hear people complaining about it when it comes to BD.

It has nothing to do with the movie series. There is a new Ghostbuster video game coming out.
