The Japanese BD is A, but the actual transfer would have to be ripped and reauthored with english menu options. So the region coding would not have any effect.
I place my hunch on it because, it can only be the UK transfer or the Japanese one as Umbrella has not got the resources to do a transfer themselves. And the Japanese BD features TrueHD. I would love to be wrong, but I doubt it. Will be very interesting to hear about it. |

Well the Japanese transfer can be seen here,
http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDRev...dvd_review.htm Whether its good or bad thats up to you. It looks to be an older transfer. It app does not have the contrast boosting, but it does not have the same detail going by the screenshots. If you don't have the film on BD it will still do the job until a definitive release happens, without the blown out contrast. |

Hmm yeah it looks quite smooth.. also see it has 1080i on that page. While I am not totally against 1080i (Once Were Warriors looks great), I would prefer to see 1080p instead.
Might have to get the Uk version at some stage. |

Like I said, I am just guessing that its from the same source as the Japanese BD. But all the info thats been presented so far, its looking that way.
While I am a purist and noticed the changes featured in the transfer on the UK disc. It looks so much better than any way I had seen it in the past, I let it slide. The Anchor Bay DVD is unwatchable to me after seeing the UK BD. The lossless sound helps as well. |
