Default The Red Dwarf Season 10 Thread

So, episode 1 of season 10 (Trojan) just finished on Dave.

I liked it.

**WARNING: SPOILER HEAVY**

[Show spoiler]It wouldn't be Red Dwarf without a couple of continuity errors, lol. Rimmer failed his astro navigation exam 9 times according to this, where as he actually failed it 13 times, as established in season 1. Episode 2 looks good. Should've brought back Holly though instead of introducing a new ship board computer. The latest version of the Kryten costume on Red Dwarf looks odd in the neck area. The suit is fine, and the face is ok, but it has too much neck exposed, and it looks weird...

I liked it too - not a bad story and some very good laugh out loud moments, along with a few smirks and chuckles.

A good start to the new series.

It was..... okay. It's good to see the team back together but it didnt quite have the same feel as Red Dwarfs of old. The comedy was no where near as good and very cheesy at times, yes RD has always had an element of cheese, it's part of its charm but felt like it was trying too hard and couldn't quite carry it off like it used to

Also WTF kryten! I thought with all the make up Kryten would be the least effected by age, not so , Billz mentioned his neck looks funny, yeah that's where they've tried to hide all his chins lol and we now have an android with big bags under his eyes

I enjoyed the new episode. It seems like it is going back to the show's roots and the season looks promising. I was a little iffy when it started, but how some of the jokes established at the start lead to such great pay-offs... fun stuff.

I'm glad that they basically sawed the season 8 Red Dwarf ship model in half, and gave it a more season 1 feel with season 8 detailing.

Seems like they went back to the formula they used in Seasons 5-6, which I like very much. But this episode seemed like a weak one. Hopefully they will get better, because all the ingredients are there!

I noticed they put some wrinkles around Kryten's eyes, and also over curled Rimmer's hair a bit. I didn't notice the thing about Kryten's neck though.

It was fun to see the crew back to the old sytle show format. The only thing I hope gets touched on is what happened at the end of VIII. Just seems weird to just start a new series, no mention of kochanski or what happend at the end of VIII. Cant wait for next episode.

It's just occured to me that "Back to Earth" and "season 10" of "Red Dwarf", actually take place in the mirror universe (see the end of "Only The Good..."), and since the mirror universe is basically a parallel universe to the original one that seasons 1-8 took place in, then some things we know as cannon in "Universe A (seasons 1-8)", are going to be slightly different in "Universe B" (BTE, season 10), which would explain a couple of the continuity errors in BTE ane episode 1 of "season 10".

I think on the red dwarf forums that it wouldnt make it to blu-ray since the old series was shot on tape and wouldnt benefit from being on blu-ray. Something like that. Im still mad we dont have the remastered ones on dvd in the US even though I dont care for them, i still want all things dwarf.

As for the second episode, it was pretty lame. I didnt care much for it so hopefully the third picks it back up a bit in terms of comedy.

I figured that might be the case - been itching to get these but have held off as I can still watch them through Amazon Prime, would like to have them in a physical media format at some point. Great show.

The 8 season DVD set is great. Every episode has cast commentaries which are great. Lots of behind the scenes and deleted stuff. Worth every penny for a fan. It just sucks we dont get the blooper dvds, triva game dvd or bodysnatcher collection that the rest of the world has gotten.

A little late to the game, but the second episode of the new season was eh. I did really enjoy the scene with Lister arguing with his recorded self for the father/son bit. The rest was pretty forgettable.

The second episode was a bust for me. Going to watch the third one shortly tonight and see how it is. Hopefully better... heard it was getting good ratings in the UK so hopefully we will get more next year.
