Default Tell Play.com you want a Dredd steelbook

Hi guys. So I suggested to Play on Facebook that they should do a Dredd stellbook using the excellent Jock poster art, similar to The Raid. Give it some likes/comments to show there's interest out there and maybe it'll happen.

Apparently the request has been passed on to the steelbook team, so it's worth a shot. Deboss the logo and maybe the red on the helmet and I think this would make a superb steelie...

Lionsgate will handle the Blu-ray for this won't they? That means a HMV exclusive as I believe their last two have been.

I agree, that design would work!

The cinema release in the UK was Entertainment Film Distributors.

It's worth a shot, but I have my doubts as EiV usually do the most basic and bare-minimum releases possible - just a basic Amaray case and one disc.

If this does get the steelbook treatment maybe it'd convince them to do more worthwhile releases.

Yeah, a family member deals with them in a business capacity and they are notoriously cheap-ass and difficult. But maybe if they hear there's money to be made, they might go for it.

It certainly would! Love it...even though it looks far more like the comic Dredd than the Karl Urban Dredd!

I want this to happen to but Entertainment have always had opportunities to make money and have never taken them. I loved Dredd and I think it's the sort of stylish, cool genre film that would perfectly suit a steelbook - I'd love one to happen. But sadly I don't hold out any hope for one with Entertainment.

A plus from me too, although I do not have facebook. Would love to see a Steel with that artwork (if possible) or similar.

Thirty-Eight times I've been to the cinema this year.

This was the best time I've had. Request added.

Not going to happen. It will be a HMV exclusive if it is exclusive to anyone.

Why? Will Lionsgate not allow them to?

They'll probably release a steelbook anyway.

Why? Because studios often have deals with certain retailers. Recently for example Play.com release Fox and Paramount exclusives whereas HMV tend to get exclusives from Studio Canal and Lionsgate. The last two Lionsgate Steelbooks were both released by HMV: The Hunger Games and The Cabin In the Woods. I'm not saying that Play.com won't release it, as it's possible it could get a non-exclusive release. I'm just saying if it is exclusive to any retailer, it would most likely be HMV.
