Default Marie Antoinette cancelled?

I work at a video store and I was trying to order Marie Antoinette from our ordering company so that we received it by the release date and was told that the title was pulled. Has anyone heard this?

paidgeek said that it was delayed (I aslo asked). One minute I had it on preorder and then Amazon emailed me with the cancellation notice. Perhaps we'll have another shot at the title later on in 07.

I had the same problem with Amazon. Most online DVD companies are now listing it for shipment on 01/01/2010, like www.buy.com, although it means it is indef delayed.

With the cinematography of that movie, it would have been a winner on Blu-Ray!

I bet Sony did a crappy MPEG-2 transfer and they pulled it so they could go back and do a really nice high bitrate AVC one.

The new release date on Ingram Entertainment (company that video stores order from is 12-31-07. This probably means that this does not have a new street date yet.

Terrible movie, the money was there alright and the cast was present and correct but the script and direction was piss poor. Lost in Translation was only above avarage and still remains her best work

I get why people don't like it, but I loved the cheeky quality of it. Plus, Kirsten Dunst returned to being a babe again, after the blip of Spider-Man 2, where she looks like Axel Rose...

It would look amazing and the songs would sound great in PCM/TrueHD.

UMMMMM Kirsten Dunst is the star of Marie Anoinette, not Scarlett Johansson who was in Lost in Translation.

He's talking about the director Sofia Coppola.

would love to have that movie on BD too....

And speaking of Lost In Translation: i am hoping for a REMASTERED Blu-ray (Hello, Universal!?), the HD DVD is just plain awful.

I too am really looking forward to seeing this on BD. As mentioned above, the many great scenes at Versailles would look spectacular in 1080p, and those new wave songs would sound great with uncompressed sound. It's a great movie too.

I agree, I would love to have Lost in Translation on Blu-ray with a better transfer than the hd-dud one.

And I'd take Marie Antoinette too. Would be nice if Sony could encourage Sofia Coppola to do an audio commentary as a Blu exclusive. She has never done one for any of her films.
