Default sub blown fuses??

i have a very old cerwin vega 10" sub. i have not used it in one year. moved into my new house plugged it in and nothing. check the fuse, blown! bought some new fuses T2AL-250v. got the new one in and pop, again. another blown fuse. whats the deal, is the sub just dead cause its been a straight up champ for the last ten years got it cheap as hell and it lasted longer than any other electronic in the home theater set-ups throughout the years. if i can fix it i would love it. any ideas

Perhaps wiring/grounding problem in the new house?

Open the subwoofer and check all the wiring. Check the impedance of the driver on its back and make sure the amplifier can handle it. If everything looks ok, my guess is that the amp has gone bad. You can buy plate or external subwoofer amps from Parts Express at reasonable prices.

While you are at it, you can add some polyfill to the cabinet and replace the driver with a better subwoofer driver from Parts Express.

Blown fuse equals electrical problem most likely a short circuit. You can visually inspect connections as Big Daddy has suggested but unless it is an obvious issue (exposed wires touching or burn marks its not likely something you can fix. If it is not visually obvious what is causing the issue I would take the sub to a qualified repair shop for a diagostic. Not trying to be mean but truthfully if asking questions about a blown fuse on a blu-ray forum then Electrical engineering is likely not your calling (and to be honest that is not a critique of the OP just a statement of likely fact). That being said for your safety I would not be messing around too much inside of the subwoofer as if you disassemble too far and get into the guts of the plate amp there are capacitors that can kill you no joking here. and it is not worth your health. I would reccomend for your safety that you take the unit in for service by a qualified technician because there is no Item you own worth your life.

Thanks,
T
