thats pretty amazing. MGS4 will be insanely popular and this would give a lot of people reason to get a PS3. The game+dualshock3 will convert a lot of PS2 owners that have been waiting.

I'm guessing it will.

Is it too soon for the 45nm?

thats exactly what i thought. i figured a 120 gb bundle would be in order. but it seems they killed off the 80 motorstorm bundle to make room for this. so it makes sense, its just sad

I don't think so:

February 07, 2008 At an ISSCC session yesterday afternoon, IBM announced details of a smaller, lower-power version of the Cell BE processor that powers Sony's PlayStation 3. IBM will soon move the console chip onto the company's much-ballyhooed, next-generation 45nm high-k process. The 45nm Cell will use about 40 percent less power than its 65nm predecessor, and its die area will be reduced by 34 percent. The greatly reduced power budget will cut down on the amount of active cooling required by the console, which in turn will make it cheaper to produce and more reliable. Also affecting Sony's per-unit cost is the reduction in overall die size. A smaller die means a smaller, cheaper package; it also means that yields will be better and that each chip will cost less overall.
Considering the above, June sounds VERY plausible for a .45nm PS3

Already posted numerous times...

And why would you want a second PS3? It's not a special edition or anything?

you would have to ask people who are thinking about purchasing the PS3 bundle.

I could be wrong...

It seems to me that the top plastic will have the artwork of Snake. That alone would make it highly collectible, give how popular the game is.

Pretty cool, but I don't want to buy another PS3. I'm still low on cash from my first one. But its a pretty good idea to package the not very well selling 80GB with a sure hit game. Should rocket sales quite nicely.

Thats just the box decoration, the actual console won't have it. (or at least that's what I've found out reading comments on Digg)

I personally would have loved to see a MGS4 bundle with 2 DS3s & 120GB PS3maybe sometime down the line huh
Now that package makes sense....not what sony is launching.......jus do the math....

As a PS3 user....its obvious, for a gamer, you will want at least two controllers....so you will need to buy another one +$54.99 (if DS3, less for six axis)
Next, 80 gb? with what sony is planning in the NEAR future for PS3, 80 gb doesnt sound so "BIG", 40 gb not even close, so you will dish out another $150 (worst case scenario) for hardrive upgrade. In the end the price will be around $705

Now, if you just buy the 40 gb (399.99)....you buy the DS3 (+54.99). Six axis controller is included in the PS3 (FREE) so now you have 2 controllers. Next, you buy the game (+59.99) + the hardrive upgrade ($150) total will be around $665? And, if you need more ports, get a usb hub (+20)= $685

So....tell me, this bundle is nice.....but its pretty much expensive even if it is by a little...Sony you better try something better than what you are offering. (add an extra controller or something to make this bundle worth our hard earned money)
