Hi I'm in need of some help. I have the Optoma GT700 projector and I'm desperate to mount it as I'm in need of more space within my room. I have a few problems, (1) my room is really small due to bed size, desk and wardrobe and (2) I have a low and uneven ceiling due to an air duct. I was wondering if there was any way to mount it or certain mounts that I should be looking into.
Currently I have the projector on a rolling caddy with my ps3 and xbox and it projects on to a whitish wall. This is the wall parallel to my bed near the back wall of my room (standing on bed) ![]() View from my desk ![]() Back wall of the room (bed is on the right-side it is a murphy bed) ![]() View from back wall ![]() View from hallway ![]() I've also been thinking of mounting a screen. Would it be possible to mount a manual pull down screen to an uneven ceiling? Any help would be appreciated thanks ![]() |

Throw distance has nothing to do with the projector being upside down or not, unless I'm completely misunderstanding you. A wall mounted shelf, opposite the screen wall, set a couple feet below the ceiling should resolve your issues with the uneven ceiling.

I have a duct across my ceiling right where I wanted to mount my projector. I ended up attaching a piece of red oak across the duct and mounting my projector to it. In your case I would go with the shelf on the rear wall as mentioned. I didn't have that option as my rear wall was too far away.

My room wall to wall (viewing distant) is 9 Ft However if I have my info right on the projector I'm looking at the specs on projector central says I would have a 84" high viewing picture and 172" diagonal.. that's a bit too large for my room size.. However at that size from the center of the lens it's showing a 16.3" offset. Now I was planning on mounting the projector 5' or so from the wall in which the offset is now 9.5" it's being mounted in a bedroom and I was wondering which mounts I should try.. I've been looking at these 3 here but I'm a little stumped on this ![]() ![]() ![]() Now the thing with the shelf it has to be placed on the wall and right side up which means the projector will have to sit lower, Not sure how much lower since my ceiling height is 7.9" tall but the shelf might be an issue over a bed and watching a movie. |

You just flip image in the settings, or if it's not being mounted on the ceiling then it projects just like any other projector. Last edited by MikeCL; 12-03-2012 at 05:03 AM. |
