This is what gives it the 3D look, specially when everyone in the screen is moving.
I've seen this exact display in BBY as the OP and it also made me ask about why mine doesn't look as "alive" as their demo. The 120hz is definitely a big part of it. Also, many of the BBY's are now sending people off to be trained to do professional calibration, and offering that service thru Magnolia for around $400. What he's seeing is a mixture of the 120hz display and proper calibration.

Personally, I would not want that look in my HT room as I prefer a more film-like image when watching movies. The live action video look just doesn't appeal to me for most titles. I do have to admit that Invincible looked really amazing though

The smaller the screen, the sharper the picture appears to be. Check out the same model as you own in the store and I think you'll find yours is just fine.

Default Wow !!!

This is a funny thread... everyone needs to go and see waht 120hz looks like and learn what TV's have it and what ones don't.
There is a HUGE difference between a 120 tv and one that is not 120 when it comes to the picture. I have seen this on several 120 TV's. The HDMI cable thing is a total joke.... You should be able to beat a Best Buy or Circuit City kid to death for selling you a 5 dollar HDMI cable for 135 bucks ! Monster my butt.
How in the world did this guy have Sony tell him he did have a 120 tv?? or was it a kid from the store? Either way - big difference between 120 and 60 - and only a few tv's (more on the way) do 120...

Default not paying 26 times the value for a cable doesn't make you cheap.

I can buy quality HDMI cables from Amazon.com for around 5 bucks.. at best buy they want 135 bucks or something... not paying 26 times the value for a cable doesn't make you cheap.. it makes you smart... The average users probably runs their HDMI cable 3 to 6 feet?? Not really a long stretch to require any heavy duty cabling.... also the HDMI is a standard and ALL the cables do it.

I'm probably get stoned to death for saying this but...

Some of the stand alone players including the s300 are actually better blu-ray players than the ps3 PQ wise.

The ps3's strength are its upgrade-ability and the loads of other stuff it can do. Not saying the ps3 is bad because it isn't its the most versatile player out there.
I love mine and will get another one for my bedroom soon.

I finally decided to join the forum after weeks of daily visiting and I have to say I agree with RIPSeanTaylor21. This is a very well put comment. I'm not going to say that my monster cable is that much far superior to your off-name cable but you guys talk down monster so much. My cable was $70 bucks compared to the $20-30 you may have spent. Every retail item has a profit margin. Yes best buy may make 100% profit on my cable but I would rather know I got a quality cable that should perform well compared to a generic and always be asking myself if this is the best PQ I could be getting. It was well worth $40 and the piece of mind.

Comparing a cable that carries a digital signal to a cable that carries analog power is not valid. HDMI is a digital signal. Digital signal is not affected by noise, at least not the ones around your home theatre. Power is different. You can have static discharge, etc that can ruin your TV. I route intergrated circuits and we route power with wide(microscopic, but wide compared to others) metal lines. When it comes to digital signals, we just route with the thinnest lines possible because the signals passing through are immune to outside influence. Same thing with HMDI. It's 1's and 0's... it doesn't matter if it loses some voltage, it will still come out on the other side as 1's and 0's. On the other hand, power is different. Any kind of change in that line and you get performance issues. So invest on a really good power source for your TV, but for digital... it doesn't matter... the signal passing through it robust enough.

Don't worry about it.. it is your opinion.. I am not familiar with the s300.. but there has been extensive comparisons between the panny 30 and the PS3 on the AVS forums. There was no difference in picture whatsoever.. So unless the s300 is better than the panny 30 then I would tend to disagree.

the person who told me my TV was 120 was a Sony rep that I called from their 1-800 customer tech support. I asked him several times but he kept reassuring me (falsey I see now in retrospect). I will try calibrating to see if this makes a difference, but from the sounds of the responses it looks to be a combo of 120+good calibration. As far as the HDMI cable issue, don't have anything against Monster except them being expensive, but for me it didn't improve my picture. If it works for you and you are happy, cool.

Pretty much, Monster cable has been, and always will be a total ripoff. Best buy is making more like an 2-300% profit on those cables.

A 6 foot HDMI cable might cost Monster about $3 to make in a factory in the mass qualtities they deal with. They then sell it to best buy for $20-25, and BB turns it around for $75. Why do you think they have a standing "30% off monster cables when you buy a TV"?

So long as an HDMI cable meets basic standards, which the monoprice ones do, it's fine. If you're doing in-wall runs, you need some better stuff to stick with building code (I think those are $15)

I was looking at my local best buy and they had POC: Dead Man's Chest playing It looked unreal much like what people are describing here very 3-D looking. So I started thinking maybe it is a souped up demo disc super high bit rates only a few scenes .
So I took it out of the player and it was the same as my copy of POC: DMC so I looked at the cable they had a decent HDMI cable hooked up to it nothing super fancy or anything.
So I have come to the conclusion its either the TV or the S300 that was playing it. Since I have read in another thread here from people who have xbr4 bravias that they do not see this kind of 3-d look either. I believe they were also using a ps3. So that would lead me further to believe its the player. Could be the TV though.

Can't say for sure but my ps3 doesn't look like that on my Toshiba 1080p Regza 47" .It looks great but that display looks better not my much but definitely looks better.
At any rate its not like the picture from blu-ray sucks cause thats not the case at all. Until the full featured players come out I'm sticking with my ps3.

It is the TV not the player.. the people you mention with the XBR4 bravias do not have the 120 set on high (motion enhancer). If you do not have it set on high you will not see this "3d" effect.

The 3d effect is definately generated from the TV NOT the player. I have a PS3 with a sony 120hz 60A3000 and I personal like this effect and have it on high. The picture is surreal!

There are NO souped up BD discs..lol.. I'm telling you it comes from 120hz TV's set to high..
