Default Are NL titles going to be on HD DVD now?

Just curious if we could get some insight on this. New Line went 100% blu-ray exclusive immediately on Jan. 5th. Now that WB has absorbed them, are those movies that are going to come out (ie Golden Compass) required by contract to come to HD DVD.

New Line Cinema has already been a property of Time Warner for over a decade and been stuck with certain release policies of WB since then. For example, just look at how long all New Line DVDs had to be packaged in those WB-style "snapper" (crapper) cases.

I don't think this latest news regarding the down-sizing of New Line will affect their title output. NLC looks like it is Blu-ray exclusive from here on out.

There is no chance that any more New Line movies will show up on HD DVD(at least here in the U.S.). It is as simple as that. Killing the FUD in its crib before it spreads.

I bet you'll find that even Warner won't even release many more HDDVDs.

1) Toshiba released them from their contractual obligations
2) Retailers won't want to waste precious shelving space
3) Warner themselves won't want to put in development into something that might just lose them money much less make a marginal profit.
4) Most if not all titles from here on end will be optimized for Bluray, thus requiring much more extra effort and money to make a HDDVD version

Just face it HDDVD is dead.

I don't think WB's ownership of NL has changed since the move to BD exclusivity. When they moved exclusive, NL said that it was with immediate effect.

Newline said a while back that their first and last release on HD DVD was Pan's Labyrinth. No more HD DVD for them.

From everything I've read while New Line is being absorbed into Warner they will have a transition period where all jobs and operations continue as they are.

No saying how long that will be, but I'm willing to bet it will outlast Warner's May release window. Besides, the one film New Line has in the pipeline (Golden Compass) is probably too far along to start up a new transfer for HD-DVD in time to make the window.
