Default Do you want Matrix now sans IME, or wait till BD-J is ready?

I can wait for BD-J IF they are actually waiting for PiP and not some other stuff that BD-J can do now, like games or Blu-Wizard. Of course this is providing that the extras are really informative to begin with. I assume that's why other studios have not yet heavily included PiP on their releases.

However, Warner must also provide equal or better audio quality than HD-DVD. I don't wanna vote because the option that I want is not there.

Yeah they should give us BD supporters a little something extra for having to wait for this and other titles. And, like I said in another thread, I don't understand why they don't just use the seamless branching to these features now, instead of waiting for secondary video decoding to slap those same features into a little, annoying video box on top of the main feature. Their supposed reasoning for the delay is quite silly and unnecessary IMO.

Warner doesn't seem to have any problem releasing titles without TrueHD, despite it being compatible (core DD) and the vast majority of BD players support it (PS/3).

"50% of the movie experience is the audio" - George Lucas
"1/3 of the cost of your home theater should be spent on the sound system" - Rule of thumb
"50% of a sound system should be spent on the speakers" - Rule of thumb

When people start argeeing that 33% of the disc attactiveness is in IME, then studios can delay releases for it.

I say wait. If I buy, I will buy once. Think of all the features available on HD-DVD fitting on one disc. THey can but Warner will still throw us the HD-DVD ports.

I would never sit through a whole movie watching PiP. Release it now if that is all that is holding it up.

As much as I'd like to see the films put out, WB has to save face by putting out an 'equal' BD release. Otherwise, it'll make HD look like the superior format with more features. After this debacle, just release the films w/the best sound and video without the gimmicks!

I think if WB did market research, most consumers would be happy with the current level of ineractivity/bonus features on standard DVDs.

I started the above thread to pretty much ask the same question, and most responses were in favor of the highest video and audio quality, with special features almost an afterthought, although there were a number of responses speaking favorably of the extras.

Simpsin is right when saying that WB must save face w/ the equal BD release, and about HD-DVD looking superior w/ added extras. We already know how much customer service people at Best Buy misinform, just imagine how they would take this. They'd probably start saying that BD will never have those features.

I would be happiest w/ just the best pic and sound available, but if they're gonna put it on HD-DVD, it needs to go on BD so it doesn't look disadvantaged.

I'll rather wait for the IME/BD-J pudding first.

WB should give a fair deal and not have "crippled" or "lacking" features when the HD-DUD version gets the whole package.

I think it's time for WB to prepare their offensive once the IME/BD-J is ready

My general sentiment has been and continues to be: We (or I) have waited this long...I can wait a little bit longer to get (insert movie title here) done right and amazing in every single respect.

If it were coming out on Blu Ray with no extras and TrueHD/PCM sound at the same time as the HD DVD, I would be buying the BR version, but since it is not, I will be buying the basic Matrix collection ( just the 3 movies) on HD DVD, I just don't care about all that making of stuff, it ruins the movie for me.

Same answer for Happy Feet, TrueHD on HD DVD or just DD+ on BR, I ordered the HD DVD.

The Departed, PCM on BR,TrueHD on HD DVD, I bought the BR.

This whole waiting thing seems kind of odd for the studios to do. They've never had a problem before doing multiple releases of the same movie. I know Terminator 2 had at least three DVD versions, and I think it was actually four. LOTR has the same thing, and there are rumors Peter Jackson will release an even longer cut sometime. It seems real odd that they all of the sudden don't want to release multiple versions.

Once BD-J is ready, though, there will be an onslaught of WB titles on BD, and we'll be able to get all releases that are on HD-DVD then. I think that will be quite damaging, especially if they put them all out in close proximity to each other.

My vote would depend on how long until BD-J developers kits are ready.

Isn't Pirates going to have BD-J features? If that's coming out in May, then the final tools can't be that far off.

Some things have BD-J features, but IME won't be out until closer to Q3, and probably won't work on current gen players.
