Default Antenna question

I have my home theatre setup in my finished basement and sometimes the radio reception isn't that good with the little wire antenna that came with the receiver.

I have an antenna on top of a 30' tower that I use to pick up my local channels in hi-def.

Can I run a splitter off of my antenna cable and hook it to the antenna connection on the back of the receiver to get better radio reception instead of using the little wire antenna that came with the receiver? Just wondering if the tv antenna will work to improve radio reception also, or if I need a different type of antenna for the radio?

Thanks

should be able to find a UHF / FM splitter to use at the receiver.. and you should have an "F" type connector on the back of your receiver to accept it

Bear in mind that a two-way splitter will introduce a 3.5-4 dB loss.

That means you'll lose a little over half the HD signal you now have. In all probability that will be meaningless, though, unless you already have a marginal signal with frequent dropouts and/or pixellation.

Thanks for the answers. I don't want to mess with my HD signal quality so I think I'm just going to listen to radio thru my internet connection/ethernet port on the receiver.
