Question 605 or 705...help!!!

Okay, I am set on either the Onkyo 605 or 705.

The 605 is $397 on Amazon which is almost too good to pass up for me.

I just wanted to know since the 605 only has 2 HDMI inputs if I were to take out one HDMI (let's say for a ps3) and put in an hdmi for a 360, would the settings i had for the ps3 be erased because i unhooked the hdmi cable? or would they be the same if i put the hdmi back in later?

I am asking this because the 705 is $640 (double the 605) and i don't want to spend all that extra money for an extra in

in saying that, is there anything special the 705 offers compared to the 605 that im completely oblivious to?

also, would the 605 or 705 last me longer in terms of its future proofing?

any help would be greatly appreciated (by the way, this would be my first ever receiver, so any newbie help is welcome too )

Advantages of 705 to 605 According to Crutchfield:

More power, advanced auto speaker setup, and THX® Select2
100 watts x 7
Lucasfilm's THX Select2 certification
Audyssey MultEQ XT auto setup

I vaguely remember reading in another post something about the 705 being able to "emulate" or maybe the word is "recreate" 7.1 audio from 5.1.

I'm sure someone else has more specifics but you might want to search through the forum.

ya i was looking through the forms. i think it was that the 705 can matrix a 5.1PCM to a 7.1

does this mean i can't get 7.1PCM with the 605?

i did that...not much of a difference to me except the extra HDMI in, THX certification and 90watts vs 100

i saw them...but it didn't make a difference to me

don't know what THX certification does and i could live without the extra hdmi in and 10 less watts...i think

if i unplugged an hdmi connected to the ps3 would the settings be erased when i reconnect?

Id say 605. the Price advantage completely over-powers the "extra things" that the 705 provides.
I have the 605. Its a great system. I just dont like the "Game. VCR. DVD." setting style. Id much rather have "input 1. input 2. etc." Oh well though.
It also gets rather hot.

Still, overall its amazing for the price. the 705... it just seems... stupid... to blow the extra money on that useless crap that could be easily used for speakers, movies, games, or anything elese that you want to buy.

Its completely up to you obviously, but i recommend the 605.

Hope you like whatever one you pick.
