Default Blind Buys - Black Friday

I have no problem blind buying movies. I notice that it becomes a larger part of my purchases when there are good really good deals. In those cases I easily justify a blind buy.

What did you blind buy over the Black Friday Friday (Cyber Monday) Week that was a blind buy for you? Here are my blind buys:
  1. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter
  2. Hatfield and Mcoys
  3. Wrath of the Titans
  4. Expendables 2
  5. Walking Dead Season 1
  6. Lonesome Dove
  7. Battleship
  8. Senna (UK Import)

Cast Away

I watched Good Will Hunting a few nights ago and really liked it. Is Cast Away any good?

Cast Away is great. A very unique movie, but very well done.

My only blind buy was Firefly. I've been watching a few episodes each day since it arrived. I love it.

I bought that as well. Granted I saw it in theaters and loved it. Too bad it was not given a wide release.

Blind buys from Black Friday week:

The Fast & The Furious/2 Fast 2 Furious (I enjoyed Fast Five...)
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (to complete my Mummy collection)
Due Date/The Hangover Part II
Che (I've seen the first hour or so of Part 1)
Hatfields & McCoys
Forever Marilyn (everything in here except for Some Like It Hot)
Velvet Goldmine
The Four Feathers (I've seen the Heath Ledger remake)
Ken Burns' The War
The Pursuit of Happyness
The French Connection II
Pandora and the Flying Dutchman
A Fish Called Wanda
Elia Kazan Collection: Vol. 1 & 2 (all blind buys except for Gentlemen's Agreement)

Yeesh. That's quite a few blind buys.

I seldom buy any Blus that I don't think I will want to watch several times or usually more than once a year. That makes blind buys relatively scarce for me. For those that I can't find a way to see first, I at least scan the reviews and the plot descriptions to see if it is likely to be something that fits my taste. I find that less likely now than it used to be but every once in a while I am pleasantly surprised. I did just buy the 1975 Zorro but even then, I really like most of the versions I have seen, read the reviews and watched some clips of scenes on Utube. These days, there is seldom a need to buy completely blind.

I think taking someone else's word for what is good is a dicey proposition but FWIW, you can't go wrong with Firefly.

I blind bought Fight Club. I almost blind bought Super 8, but I ended up watching it on Netflix the night before I bought it so it was no longer a "blind" buy.
