Tool on Blu-ray, anyone? - Blu-ray Forum

Out of any music BD's I'd love to see come out, I'd say one featuring the music of Tool would be my most anticipated. Anyone else agree?

Is there anything out there about something like this coming out?

I disagree, Tool would suck. (sarcasm)

Not sure.. the videos would be good, especially the 3D type stuff from 10,000 days cover art. They don't really jump around the stage though (at Bonnaroo, Maynard was in total darkness the whole show), so I don't know that the musicians would be that fun to watch. If you like to do drugs and watch the videos while stoned, so be it - I don't, so therefore I want a show for my money. I liked NIN's Blu...

Rage against the Machine... also a different story. Very energetic show, I'd watch 'em on Blu.

MAN MAN... that would rock. I'd advise everyone to look up Man Man and catch a show - the most fun and entertaining show I've ever been to. Period.

Yeah, that would be cool. I would like to see the upcoming Opeth DVD done on Blu-Ray too.

It would be great to have all their videos on one BD in 1080p along with some live shows.

YES!! Though I'd rather have it on BD for the sweet sounds in 7.1! How amazing would that be?

This may happen eventually for the videos, but I doubt you will ever see a live concert on blu-ray. Maynard prefers to live anonymously, hence they are never in the videos, he is always disguised/shrouded/hidden in his shows, he never gives interviews, and photography is strictly banned at the shows.

i think tool will have a blu ray release they are very much into getting there music to look and sound the best that it possibly can. Also they are very close with NIN and they have released stuff on blu so im sure they will soon enough..

I think we have been waiting for a live DVD forever. Getting a BD sounds even more out of reach. Would be nice though.

That's exactly what I've been thinking.

I say there's no way in hell we get a tool bd within the next couple of years.

Probably the most foolish thing I've ever read.

1) Visuals at tool shows are amazing and would be perfect for BD (if you'd have seen them anywhere but bonnapoo you'd probably know that)
2) The musicians have to "jump around" in order for it to be good? Seriously man? The music itself certainly brings enough intensity.
3) You'd have to be stoned to watch? I could sit day after day and just watch Danny Carey behind the drum set. The man is a master.

It would be amazing to get a live show in HD from Tool, but we will never see this. They have never released a concert on DVD, so I doubt they would make an exception for BD.

A collection of all of their music videos would be pretty awesome to have on BD, but a live concert would be so much better...too bad

well, unfortunately, you're probably going to be waiting a LOOOOOOOOONG time.
The band is in the mish-mash stages of getting their next album together (we'll be lucky if we see this in 2 years time or more) and there were some rumblings from the camp a couple years ago about a "live concert" DVD in the works, but it appears that was ALL it was. Rumblings. Here we are, a few years later, with nothing, and that is apparently on the backburner.
So...to summarize....they will likely continue their 'side project' work for now, get together a Tool album in the next couple years sometime....tour behind it...then, if we're lucky, really lucky, we might see that live DVD release in the next 3 or 4 years or so. But i wouldn't hold my breath, it may not happen even then.
