Default No Blu-ray playback after driver update??

Hey guys, we've been reading through a few pages but can't really find anything in relation to our problem. If it's a repeat topic then my bad :P

We have a Pioneer PCD 202BK BD player, using PowerDVD Ultra and an ATI Radeon 2400HD graphics card. It worked perfectly, smoothly and just as beautifully as all Blu-rays should... until we updated the drivers to get it to run properly with Bioshock, now all of a sudden we're getting the message "Incompatible Graphics Driver... [Error Code = 0012]" whenever we try to play any of our Blu-rays.
The driver version is 8.453-080122a-059347c-ATI.
I'm not sure what other info you guys need?
Cyberlink BB Advisor tells us that the driver is not BD ready, yet redirects us to a site that says it should be!
I fail to see why a driver update would cause such a step back for our precious Blu-rays, but that's what we're hoping you guys could shed some light on?

It seems as though there were either some issues with the catalyst installation software or some old drivers conflicting with it. Using the Device Manager to uninstall the existing drivers, looking for changes in hardware then updating them from that appears to have solved the problem.

I'm running 8.471-080225a1-059746C-ATI

Are you sure you're on the latest Catalyst drivers ? That said though I was using the 8.2 cats and didn't get that error.

What OS are you using ?

I'm just getting cruddy playback (with Cyberlink Power DVD Ultra with 3730 patch installed) no pop up errors, I'm fearing my X1950XTX might be under powered in the decoding department though.

[edit]Oops just read your 2nd post saying you'd fixed it, just ignore me I'm slow

Unhappy Bundled PowerDVD 8 says "incompatible graphics driver" for latest from Nvidia

I am unable to get PowerDVD to play blu-ray disks. I have PowerDVD version 8.0.3228.50 that came bundled with my LiteOn Blu-ray drive (IHOS104-08). I performed the initial update for PowerDVD, as well as installing the newest bios, motherboard and video drivers. However, both the Cyberlink BD advisor program and PowerDVD itself keeps complaining that my Nvidia GeForce 7900 GT/GTO video driver is "incompatible". The card is on the list of minimally accepted cards and the Nvidia driver is supposed to be HDCP-compliant. Either way, I am using the VGA analog output and thus HDCP is not an issue.

BTW, I tried bunch of older Nvidia drivers upon suggestion from the Cyberlink support, but did not help.

Can anybody help?

Thanks..

You have an HDCP driver loaded, but you're using the VGA port, so Cyberlink is looking for a DVI or HDMI port. Your only hope is one of the older drivers, and if that's not working, you may need to break down and get an HDCP compliant monitor or television.

One thing may be happening - if the 7900 is a dual-port card, PowerDVD may be looking at the wrong port. See if you can disable the non-connected port with the Nvidia software...

I see, although I think it is outrageous. I went back to Nvidia driver 93.71 from 2006, which should not have the HDCP code, but I still got the same message 'incompatible graphics driver'. Maybe just using the VGA port should work and I have some other kind of problem with my card.

Ok, I tried to unplug the other monitor and shift the VGA monitor to the other input, but still no change. I can only get the BD advisor to agree when I switch to a single-display mode, anyway. But I made sure to disconnect the other one this time.

The Cyberlink people asked for a detailed scan of my system. Let's see what they say.

You were right, Blu-dog, they asked me to buy a new graphics card. Somehow PowerDVD supports Nvidia GeForce 7600GT but not 7900GT!

Clearly they are asking me to buy stuff because they don't want to fix bugs in their software.

I downloaded the WinDVD trial, but it has no blu-ray support. I'm switching to Linux, but I get SATA errors when I try to read from my IHOS104-08 blu-ray reader for some reason.
