Post Outland

I would like the studio WB to Re-master this cool sci-fi film in Hi-Def Blu-Ray Please.

I own the first DVD from 1997 and its not even in Anamorphic 16x9.

I hear it was re-released last year but I was toll that verson is not any better to the 97 release??

So why no Hi-Def Verson????

also there has to be some cool extra's from this film.

I hope someone from WB does check this site out and makes a note about this great Sean Connery Film.

Thanks.

Yeah, I would love to see this title get some Blu love. Hell even some DVD love . I didn't even think Warner had made any non-anamorphic transfers.

Funny you should mention Outland. I was watching the DVD on my HD set a couple of nights ago and it looked really bad upscaled, bad enough not to watch past the first couple of minutes. Id love to see this in Blu.

Outland is one of my Favorite Sci-Fi movies. I would love to see it get the Royal Treatment and get cleaned up like Blade Runner did. Though I won't hold my breath, that's going pretty far into the old Catalog for a Blu-Ray Release.

I also have the DVD version of Outland and it looked pretty bad even on my old 36" Trinatron. I haven't even tried putting it in the PS3 to watch it yet, that might be scary!

Just watched my '97 Outland DVD on the PS3.

Whoajeez. Man, was it crappy looking! Grainy, moire-y, yuck.
Did I actually once think this looked good?
That would mean my laserdisc was even worse.

How is it that we get so quickly "recruited" to new technology?

Actually, the LaserDisc looked excellent. The DVD transfer was taken from the LaserDisc print... and badly done at that.

Anybody hear if this one is on the horizon? A really good "Alien"-quality transfer would be amazing. A remastered audio track would be great too so Jerry Goldsmith's terrific score could shine .....here's hoping we'll get this one this year.

It's the 30th anniversary of this film! Please, someone, somewhere tell us it's coming! Warner has been pretty good this year in terms of it's anniversaries and catalog titles - give this film the proper presentation it deserves! and DTS-HD MA for Jerry Goldsmith's incredible score!

I just watched this last night and yes the DVD is garbage. Once I got throught the first 10 minutes or so I was able to ignore and enjoy the film. Great movie and would love to see this a proper cleanup and bluray release.

I agree with everyone here, this needs a BD release.

I think I may have to watch this again today. Great movie, love the feel of the mining colony - it almost feels how it would actually be.

I had been wanting to watch this movie for the last month, I owne the DVD and I had expectations to get a release on BD, but as it seems that we are not getting one anytime soon, I will go ahead and watch the crapy DVD.

BTW, this is an excellent sci fi movie, and I dont understand why is it so far behind in the list of good sci fo movies.

Cya

I emailed Bill Hunt of Digital Bits about this title about six months ago and he had no idea whether it will ever see a hi-def release. Heck, a better DVD release with an anamorphic, cleaned up presentation would be great.

Not sure what the hell Warner is waiting for.
