the ones that you'll find keygens and cracks for are the ones that support 480p..... also..it takes 10+ hours to convert a movie.... |

to The Don
I would love to know how this is done: upscaling a movie to 1080p. If I may, what software did you use exactly? I ask because I know there's alot of dumb scams converting to iPod, PSP, PS3 etc. out there. Most, like you say, only go to 480p, or render MPEG-4 (no AVC/H.264) etc. I don't care for a serial or crack. I will pay full price for something that does the job. As well, was kind of file was this original of 1.3GB? What resolution did it have? Was it DivX or Xvid? I'm just curious. Although it may not be "true HD'", is there really a positive difference in the upscaling? Thanks in advance. For a while now, I've honestly been trying to find stuff that does this. |

so far it makes the picture look a little better...but I havn't truly put this to the test (using one of my DVD's)...I've only used TC versions of movies....300 and Borat are NOT screeners, I've found out they are TC's...which is better and close to DVD quality... there is still pixellation at some parts, but it is more detailed....there are some screeners and TC's that fail to convert... but if I can upscale my DVD collection to 1080p and put them onto my PS3, then I will do that....but it only appears that it improves the quality a little... |

Any HDTV can scale any resolution movie to it's native resolution just fine on it's own. However pixel noize, and deinterlacing filters are usualy better on devices that upsample (such as a standalone DVD player or your PC) than the one on your TV which enhances the video quality a little.
Upsampling does not add more detail, it mearly masks the imperfections of SD source then outputs it the optimal resolution for your TV. Black Hawk Down, and Blood Diamond Full HD trailers from Sony online store is the best way to see true HD. These two trailers realy show what properly encoded HD videos will look like on Blu-Ray, or on PS3. I have calibrated my TV with the THX optimizer that came with Akira "DVD". It mainly showed me how to set the proper Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, and Sharpness levels to get the best possible picture quality. After that my TV looks 3 times better than what the factory defaults were. ![]() PS3 does not upsample DVDs, but I maxed out DNR for Pixel noise, which does a great job of masking pixels. Add my TV's scalling capabilities, and my THX optimized settings, DVDs look better than ever. ![]() But it still pales incomparison to Blu-ray. |

I fully agree with Takezo, and The Don.
It's ridiculous to think that upscaling a non-HD movie to HD would make it a full substitute for something on blu-ray that is true HD. If you want the full HD, then get the full HD. Period. Upscaling is only a good option when looking for a compensating factor in existing video when the only source availabe is at DVD rez, or less. As well, it helps if you're looking for some form of compatibility, which may have been The Don's case for PS3. It's obviously better than nothing. I am still looking for a good software package that does this nevertheless. No, I'm not expecting HD quality, but I'd like something that at least creates a better compatibility for current video to be blu-ray compliant later when that day comes to create discs with it. |
