India/Bollywood Rebel (Sri Balaji) Telugu Blu-ray

This is will be releasing after the new year.

API and myself worked on the blu-ray.

Sadly, Sri Balaji wanted us to use a watermark. As they were the copyright owners and the client, our hands was tied and we had to implement this

We did try to explain the benefits of "no watermark" but we failed.
The consumers need to let them know.

Cinematography and CGI elements had some issues - but these are production flaws...not encode problems.

We've presented the film exactly as the DPX.
I personally believe that our encode looks better then the JPEG 2000 encode used for Digital cinema

Audio is DTS-HD MA, and English Subtitles are included.

The Telugu film industry continues to support the Blu-ray format...!!!!

Good news ... another Blu-ray

Can we expect this in early January?
I like Sri Balaji for not releasing the DVD until the Blu-ray is ready. Hopefully they will continue the trend set by Bhavani.

If the watermark appears for just 10 to 30 seconds during songs or every 30 minutes or so, I can adjust.

Sad sad state of affairs with Telugu home video - disasters like Daruvu and Rebel get bluray treatment while commercially successful Racha doesnt! Granted Racha was mediocre at best but still miles better than these two!!!

THIS you get to work on but not Eega? Rebel is a one-time watch just for the ridiculous fight sequences. The songs, story, etc. are mediocre.

Don't know why industry has skipped Racha bluray. That film deserved bluray as compared with Rebel and Daruvu. Heck, it was better than Mirapakai.

I am guessing they continue being disgustingly creative with the WM - animated? close to the center? or maybe both?

I know I will get brickbats for this, but I enjoyed Racha more than Gabbar Singh. Must be the expectations before seeing the movie and the protagonists in the two movies . I am part of the masses

Regardless of the movie, I prefer every movie on Blu Ray

It doesn't make sense to get angry that Rebel is releasing on Blu-ray, just because Racha didn't. We should be happy that another Telugu movies will be available on Blu-ray. Lets not blame Sri Balaji ... if Sri Balaji had the rights for Racha, they would definitely release Racha Blu-ray.

The decision to not release a Blu-ray for Racha was made by Aditya, so please direct your anger/frustration towards them. Saying it in this thread makes it seem like its Sri Balaji's fault and you are discouraging them from releasing Rebel Blu-ray.
Also, I like to see as many movies as possible on blu-ray only ... but it is upto the home video companies to decide. As far as I can remember Bhavani and Sri Balaji release Blu-ray for every average to hit movie they get the rights for. We should appreciate them for that.
The best part is that they release the DVD and Blu-ray on the same day (or within a week or two delay in some cases)

I am still cursing Volga every weekend for not having Julayi Blu-ray ready. Now the tentative release date is set at December 25th, which is 2 months from the DVD release date.

It was a general comment on a bigger picture and one would have to be seriously ill equipped mentally to draw that inference

As far as my interest in this blu is concerned, I can care less for this totally disaster of a movie so yes, as a consumer, I do want them to know my disinterest in their venture to bring this to the expensive format.

Most, if not all, the folks frequenting this forum want to see more blurays regardless of the movie success but you cant help but debate/compare why some make it while others dont.

Comments like "this movie needs bluray???" are clearly saying that as a consumer you don't want a Blu-ray for this movie. Thus discouraging Sri Balaji from releasing it.
I see people complaining about Indian home video not advancing and when we finally start seeing more Blu-ray releases, I see such posts discouraging them. I am not planning on buying Rebel either due to poor user reviews, but I am still happy to have it release. Maybe I will buy it later when the price is $10 to $15.

Im assuming that awful Indian movies are easier and cheaper to release on bluray while the good movies have trouble getting put on bluray because everyone wants a cut or piece of the sales. Thus, people fight over the rights for a good movie and it never gets put on bluray because no one can agree.

So the moral of the story is "dont buy crappy movies on bluray." It's not better to have a crappy movie on Bluray than to not have one at all.

As long as you keep on eating crap, the industry will keep feeding you crap.
