Default Is It For me?

Hi Everyone... Just joined the Forums a few days ago but have been reading up alot on Blu-Ray Players. Im Still not 100% which would be the best one to get... if any at all...The Picture Quality and sound are really making me think... anyone have a Suggestion? Im Not really into the "Ps3" Thing... About 25 years late for me. I Have a Dvd/VHS combo but i mostly use it to watch VHS videos...The DVD stuff never really made it into my life... i Figured something new would come along in a few more years that would be better. So would Blu-Ray really be worth it? It's Tempting to wait another 10 years and save for something better.

No point in waiting another 10 years cause 10 years from that point there will be another new thing, that's technology for ya.

If it's worth it totally depends on how much you watch at home! If you watch a lot I would say it is definitely worth it. Waiting another 10 years might just be wasteful, that way you just keep waiting your whole life and never enjoy what's available.
Sure in 10 years there will be something much better, but doesn't mean that you cannot enjoy Blu-rays anymore. You still watch VHS you say... are those still being made???

10 years from now, you'll be waiting for whatever is coming 10 years further down the road... why not enjoy what's available now?

Do you have a HDTV? If you're still watching VHS exclusively, I'm guessing you do not. If not, Blu-Ray won't do it for ya.

Fifty years from now, when you're looking back at your life, don't you want to be able to say you had the guts to get a ps3?

as others have asked, the first question is - do you have a HDTV?

regardless, whether it's worth it for you is up to you. to me, movies are a audiovisual experience, and better audio and visual are worth it to me.

why don't you visit your local best buy/circuit city/whatever and check out the blu-ray/home theater display?

guess you didn't wait for the HDTV tv?

go to fry's TOMORROW. If you already have the tv , and you purchase a blu ray player you will literally not leave your house for a while. Hopefully you live somewhere cold so you can use that as an excuse. If you are used to VHS and you jump from VHS to Blu-ray ... just wow.

I envy you. hahaha

i'd really recommend you visit fry's or whereever else and take a look at the display, then.

i actually stayed out of the format wars until april last year when i finally saw blu-ray in action at a store. the difference in the quality of the video is immediately apparent, especially on bigger TVs. the difference in the quality of the audio depends however on whether you have the audio setup to take advantage of it.
