OMG the DTS-ES 6.1 track rocks and could probably compare with any lossless track (JMO).

The DVD looks awesome upconverted.

Yes I am sure that the AQ was better, I was actually curious about the PQ because of so many people talking about the grain in the film. The grain in the Max HD version really didn't bother me but that it added a certain beauty to it. I am not a big fan on grain but this one looked good IMO.

Default Gladiator

I've seen it on TNTHD a couple times. Looks superb in 1080i. Should be even better in "p."

"My name is 'Gladiator.'"

I LOVE IT WHEN MAXIMUS' SWORD COMES FLYING FROM TEN FEET BEHIND THE VIEWING POSITION, OVER YOUR SHOULDER, AND LANDS IN THE TV!!!

That 5 seconds of film is the moment I use to show people just how important sound can be when EXPERIENCING a film vs. WATCHING a film!!!

agreed Petra!!

I loved the scene when Maximus was waiting for the gate to open and the warrior on the other side was swinging the ball and chain around. Incredible sound

Now that this silly format war is over, there is maybe more chance that we will get this title on BD. Hopefully as this is a definite purchase for me.

Please release it

The Fall of the Roman Empire (Warner Bros) may be on the cards for a BD release (or so I read on the digital bits). This movie also deals with Marcus Aurelius Antoninus and Commodus... the same historical figures as Gladiator deals with. This too will be an instant purchase for me.

Hey people of the blu-ray forum. It's my first post here. Not that it is a big deal, but I can't very well say that on my next post now can I?

I have owned a PS3 since the launch and am really excited about the recent events that have unfolded these past weeks (referring to Blu-Ray PWNING HD-DVD ). The thought of potentially owning newly released movies on Blu is awesome, but not owning some of my FAVORITE movies of ALL TIME in Blu bothered me a little. (Gladiator being one of them. Yeah, it looks great upconverted on DVD... but it's just not Blu.)

With the format war over, soon all of our favorite movies will be in glorious HD with Uncompressed PCM/DTS-HD/Dolby TrueHD sound that rivals any movie theater. Except at my theater I can drink all the beer I want and popcorn is a fraction of the price.

man, me and a bud went to see grandmas boy in the theatre, a preview for some upcoming tom cruise flick popped up, as soon as they showed tom cruise we both busted up into hysterical laughter, needless to say with like only 20 people in the theatre, we got some looks
