Default RIP Ravi Shankar (sitar master)

Ravi Shankar, the master of the sitar has passed away at the age of 92.

He was known for his stellar sitar playing, he was a best friend of the late Beatle George Harrison, he appeared at The Monteray Pop Festival and appears in the films as well.

He and George also put together the legendary Concert For Bangladesh, which raised funds to help starving children.

He was also the father of Norah Jones, one of his other daughters is also a sitar player (she played at the Concert For George)

That's sad news, but it seems he lived a good long life.

I like his music, including the traditional stuff that he plays, but really enjoyed the more "modern" approach he took on an album called "Tana Mana". Check it out.
