No remote, manual, mic. Not even a box! Think it was a floor model. Retail store asking for $510 but I can get $20 off by using my Amex card. Should I go for it?

Hmm, you have to ask yourself is it worth it to buy a remote and a mike and anything else it requires (power cord). A manuel can be gotten on line. I bought a Yamaha demo unit like 10 years ago and never had a single issue with it (Its still used daily), so as far as reliability, I doubt that will be an issue. See if they will give you a full warrenty. Without that, that would be a deal breaker for me. I Also have a Denon AVR 3810-CI that has served me well for 5+ years and I still love it.
That 3312 at 50% of original cost might be a bargin. But there is always risks associated with bargins. You have to weigh the risks. I hope that helps a little. Good luck with you choice! |

I considered buying the exact same receiver with exactly the same items missing from the Rancho Cucamonga CA Best Buy for $529. It would cost about $100 to buy the missing items (Remote, mic, power cord, antennas) As noted in the last post, you can download the manual. I decided not to bcause of many negative comments about failing HDMI cards and problems with firmware updates. Several people had been downloading updates which were interrupted. Once that happens, it is impossible to initialize the processor and the unit has to be sent to a repair facility to replace the processor. This issue has been corrected in this year's models.
I opted for a Pioneer Elite VSX-53, also open box at the same store. I have had it for a week and am happy with it. It cost me $599, but nothing was missing. |

That's a great deal if you have access to the missing bits. The manual you can get for free no biggie. If you have a universal then you good on that aspect. The power cord I'm sure you have a one laying around from a computer or something similar. The mic is may be issue for you. It doesn't have to be a dennon mic but you may not use it again so you would have to tread lightly.
If you have to buy those things you may just want to consider going new. +1Blu-Meanie NO WARRANTY NO DEAL |
