I have the same unit and have never experienced the problem you are refering to. It sounds like your unit may need repair. How long have you had it?

Have you installed the latest firmware (FW) update?
If dvd's work and your only experiencing problems with blu-ray playback then it seems like a FW could help. If you haven't checked that yet, I recommend updating it next. |

Mine , and probably all of them , are irritating in that when you turn it on and hit the door open button it doesn't open for a long time. Why can't it just open right away, let you go sit down after putting in disc and -then- take it's time 'gearing' up? It keeps giving you messages in a disjointed fashion as it sets up too. It would be great if you could go into the audio set-up section without having to stop the movie then start all over afterward.
By the way. If you're thinking of getting the Sony str-510, don't believe the comments on how it doesn't have audio passthru with the HDMI cable. As long as the amp is on, both video and audio come thru. I do have a dig. coax to the amp for cable box, but doubt if the HDMI audio is blocked at the input side, then married with the dig. coax audio before heading out to t.v. I have just ordered a button HDMI 2in, 1out box so that I don't have to turn on the amp for regular tv, yet still get HDMI video and audio feed (my tv only has one HDMI in ). |

I have had it from day one and it as work perfectly so far no problems at all.
You might want to check your video output section in the s300 menu and see if you are putting out at 24fps, that might be the cause of your lines if your Tv could not handle it. |

I have this model player and have not experienced any major problems with it other than it loads slowly sometimes on some BD discs. Since this is being discussed here I have a question that some of you may have noticed.
I have a phillips 37" LCD that I believe is 720p (1366x748 or something like that) my tv does this switching back and forth between resolutions such as 720p and it appears to switch to 1080p?? ![]() Any ideas anyone? I thought my tv was 720p but could it be possible my tv is actually 1080 p and it was an error by the manufacturers?? ![]() Am I making any sense?? |

I hate this "feature" on my S300. If I press OPEN, just open the damn tray. THEN go ahead and cycle up. But waiting 90 seconds is stupid. I haven't had the problems the OP described. But it sounds like a faulty connector somewhere. (Not the cable, but what the cable plugs into on the device.) |
