Default Momentum (IMAX HD/48fps)?

Any word if this IMAX title will be coming out on Blu-Ray? Would be a great addition to Chronos, although I'm wondering how the 48fps ("IMAX HD") source would be transferred to BD. At only 20 minutes long, this would be perfect demo material pushing BD to the limit with maximum bitrate audio and video

Well my first guess they could expose two frames into one frame: 48 -> 24 (reducing the motion resolution in half) or do some "standards conversion" type of 48fps into 60i. They do it with 50i to 60i

It would have been great if the BD spec supported higher frame rates (48 and 60fps) as Momentum looked great (much smoother motion) back when it was shown in the few 48fps-capable IMAX theaters back in the early 90's

Well, it supports 60i motion, which when deinterlaced with the most advanced deinterlacers looks pretty close to full 60fps.

I have lots of fun watching movies at "36fps" hitting the 1.5x speed mode on the PS3. Brings back memories of watching CAV Laserdiscs at a fluid 2x and 3x speeds. *sniff

In that case, I'm guessing they can do a 3:2 pulldown (or would that be 6:4 in this case)to fit 48fps into 60i the way they do 24fps on 30i. Would be sweet having this pumped out at the maximum 48Mbps MPEG2 and 5.1LPCM
