I keep hearing about this 8800 512 GTS. It is like the prime video card for the past year now, and the prices have steadily dropped from $500 down to $220. But isn't there any better video cards out there right now?
What is the best video card in about $400-$500 range? I have not been keeping up to date with PC stuff since PS3/360. |

"The new Geforce 9600 GT 512MB offers performance just below that of the 8800 GT - and on par with the Radeon 3870 - for the exceptionally low price of ~$180."
????? So it is slower? |

Ok, it looks like the 8800 series is still the fastest card being the 8800 GTX.

To go better than that card, you're looking at either an SLI setup, or ATI's 3870 X2:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102723 It's ~30% better than an 8800 GTS, so it's entirely up to you what you want to do. Last edited by dakota81; 03-09-2008 at 12:50 AM. |

Just my opinion, video card for watching Blu-Ray movies only. Anything more then this is a over kill.
All cards should have at least. Memory interface; 128 bits or more. Memory size; 256mb but prefer 512mb. Memory type; GDDR3 Or better. Nvidia 8600GTS 8800GT 8800GTS ATI HD2600XT HD3650 My chose for now. HD3850 I waiting for the ATI HD4000 card with lower power consumption. |
