I saw The Dark Knight Rises in Jalisco, Mexico this summer (in English, Spanish subs). I was surprised at how nice their theater was. Everything was cheaper also ($5 for an IMAX showing). That's the only time I've seen a movie at a theater outside of the US.

I've seen several movies at different theaters in Bogota, Colombia. All of them (Hollywood movies) were shown in English with Spanish subtitles, and the cinemas were just as nice and advanced as the nicest theaters here in the States.
The cost of the tickets is also generally cheaper than the States. |

I saw The Fellowship of the Ring in a theater in Brazil. Lived there for two years. Can't remember the other movies I saw there. They were all in English, with Portuguese subtitles. And they played too quietly! I guess because everyone else had to read.

i live in Canada - does that count?
![]() haven't seen one outside of Canada. was going to see Trek when it came out since i was in Vegas that week but it just didn't work out. doubt there is a huge difference other than we still have a lot of older theatres since we have relatively few large cities compared to the States so the seats aren't as big and comfortable, etc, but that is all cosmetic. |

Germany and Scotland. In Germany, the Kino's there play movies in English with no subtitles. Only time you'd get German subtitles if someone is speaking a different language other than English. Only saw one movie Scotland and that was King Kong.

I wanted to go see The Avengers when I was in Japan, but 2 things stopped me.
#1. I missed the initial run with Japanese dialogue dubbing. I didn't want to see it with Japanese subtitles. I wanted to experience the film as Japanese people who don't understand English do. I had already seen it 4 times in Canada at that point, so I knew the dialogue well enough to just sit back and giggle internally at how strange that experience would have been. ![]() #2. THE TICKET PRICE WAS $28 PER PERSON!!! ![]() ![]() |
