Embarrassed to admit it but I watched most of the first season on my iPod and was hooked. I have all five seasons but have only watched the first three.
I see that the sixth and final season is being released tomorrow so I'll be picking this up.
Never have seen the show on TV before

Season 1 & 2 are the only good seasons. After that it just dropped off and became utter shit.

Jenny Humphrey is and will always be the TRUE Queen of the Upper East Side.

I'm easily entertained I suppose I'm liking Chuck Bass' turnaround. I might just start a marathon and start from season 1 again. A marathon to be completed over a few months of course! I think we ended season 3 with
[Show spoiler]Chuck getting shot over in Europe

This was one of the shows that I would consider to be a "guilty pleasure." But despite giving it that classification, I really believe that it was a solid and at times quite good show during its first two seasons. The third was a step down, but still passable and entertaining.

As for the last three seasons, ugh. It was pretty much terrible, and at times downright boring. Yet, somehow it managed to keep me coming back to it. Well, I actually stopped watching during season 6 and haven't finished yet (not sure if I will), but I'm pretty sure it couldn't save itself from there. And having read about the finale... well, worst. reveal. ever... it just makes no sense. Not that we even cared at that point, considering that 'Gossip Girl' was never really too relevant after season 2.

But even more offending than that is the fact that by late season 4 and season 5, they virtually killed every character for me (except for Nate, who remained too boring to ever care about past season 1). These characters that I once loved, I now hated. By the end, Ivy was my favorite character, which frankly, is quite sad, because for the most part, you're not even supposed to like her.

The only high points after season 3 were Juliet and Dan/Blair. But honestly, they explored Dan/Blair way too late for it to amount to anything. And though I was always kinda intrigued by the possibility of Dan/Blair since that third or fourth episode of season 1, perhaps I only felt that they were a high point in the later seasons due to them completely killing the main pairings of Chuck/Blair and Dan/Serena and making me hate them.

Anyway, of the TV shows that I have followed, GG perhaps has had the worst decline in quality over its run. Though the current version of 90210, my other guilty pleasure on the CW that I also stopped watching during the current season, has also had a terrible and nearly equally bad decline over the past couple of seasons.

Lol. Long rant. tl;dr

I only ever watched the first couple of episodes of the final season... I ran into the show on Netflix recently, and fastforwarded through the series finale....

Yeah, that was terrible. Great way to give the ultimate kiss of death to a show they had already run into the ground several times over.
