Default Jump to HD bigger for gaming than movies

I'm on spring break this week, so you won't hear much from me. I only got a SDTV on me, and while Ive watched many movies since my jump to HD on SDTV and been fine with it, I really have not gamed at all on a SDTV since my jump....til NOW!

Its awful! I can't do it. I'm going on gaming hiatus I think for a week.

Its not even fair. When I play COD4 online, the sides of my view are chopped off, whereas other people get a bigger view of the battlefield, I do alright, but I am consistantly down about 2 places than I normally am.

Baseball is the easiest to do, but its just not the same, it looks like a PS2 game to me. I can't even see the pitchers face when I'm batting, much less the scoreboard.

and GT5:P talk about sucking all the realism out of a game.

Movies still don't bother me, yeah its hard to tell whats going on sometimes, but the movie is still enjoyable, with games though I feel like I am getting nothing but cheated with. Every bit of realism that the PS3 brought is null and void without an HDTV.

Now you know how PC gamers felt when Sony made exclusivity arrangements with the PS2. Couldn't stand the low res graphics. Someone gave me a copy of GTA SA for free but on PS2 (since they knew I had it for the FF and ROTK series) turned it off after 2 minutes, went out and bought the PC version.

At least your new console has a decent resolution now.

Wii games look good on Standard TV sets... but not so good on HDTV sets.

That bad? I was thinking of getting a Wii (if I ever find one), but if it's gonna look like crap on my tv (bravia xbr3 46') I think I'll pass.

I have only played they Wii at my cousins (GH 3,Zelda), its connected to a first or second generation Samsung DLP (I think it was a 1080i and has a DVI instead of HDMI it also has component inputs) I have never been impressed by the picture especially non HD stuff.

I have a Mitsubishi WD-52525 DLP 720p and games like God of War and Prince of Persia on my PS2 actually look better than Zelda did, it may have more to do with the TV, but graphically the Wii is suppose to be a little better the the Original Xbox.

I hardly play my PS2 on anything other than that TV since I connected it with Component cables, playing almost any games on a normal TV with only composite cables looks much worse except for a few like Xmen Legends but I still would rather play it on a bigger screen.

I think the jump is bigger for games as well, only because unless you did pc gaming, you never saw HD games before. Most people have seen HD movies in the past on cable, etc and thats why it doesnt seem like a huge jump.

dude it's terrible. my BB has SMG hooked up to a fifty inch SONY LCD and i swear I could not tell what I was looking at. The PS2 version of RE 4 looks better on my PS3. also there is nothing to play on the the Wii other than remakes an sequels.

The Wii can look pretty bad at times on my lcd tv (a 720p LG) but it looks quite nice on my 1080p samsung dlp-much better than on my sd tvs.

As with all electronics and tvs, especially in the current climate, ymmv. With a 30-60-90 day return window (or even trying an ebay flip for profit), there is virtually no risk involved.

Most Wii games I've seen on a HD screen look horrible, especially compared to games from the PS3/Xbox 360. Fun maybe but the Wii is definitely not a graphics powerhouse.

Does anyone if there is a big difference between component and composite cables in term of the visuals on a HDTV?

Spring Break????? Aren't you supposed to go someplace warm, drink until you puke, and look at boobies ???? You shouldn't be playing video games anyways.

I know its the gamecube, but hey.. Gfx are about the same =/
If i were you , I'd get every little improvement in graphics possible for the Wii. Go on monoprice get the cable for about $5
