I wish I could post the "Imperial March" theme song here. I think it would be fitting. I think we all made the right choice.

Excellent, I'm sure HD-DVD will hang on throughout the year, but I really hope they are gasping for breath by the fall.

Look what happened when Amazon put 46 BD titles on sale. The top 10 average became 35. And, that looks to have been all caused by less than 10K in units selling. HD DVD has so much pent up demand for titles from the previous 2-3 months, I'm surprised it isn't doing a heck of a lot better. Gary |

One thing to keep in mind is the sales rank history. Comparing Happy Feet side by side, HD came out lower around the low 30's while BR came out around the mid 40's. They're both around 50 right now which means BR has only dropped about 5 while HD has dropped about 20.
If you look at the Departed, BR has been fluctuating from 120s to 180s during the last week while HD has been as low as 1000 and high as 240. They don't have sales rank history back to the release date but I believe these both were down around 20-30 so you're seeing the same thing. Both start strong but HD drops off at a faster rate. I think the more consistent sales rank history for BR titles suggest a growing user base while the spikey nature of HD indicates a smaller base that buys at once and then has a much smaller demand. |
