Oh boy... this one might be irresistible. I've been avoiding the digibook because of packaging. THIS could be better than the answer I was originally seeking.

Too bad it's the inferior (!) director's cut, but that's one great looking cover.

A garbage extended cut is garbage. How about releasing the movie which you know, won actual Oscars???????

But the extended cut has knockers in it!!!

I love this movie in both versions - and this is a mighty irresistable release!!!

You're welcome!

I'm debating ordering this one. If it comes with a nice slipholder, I'll kick myself later for not getting it.

Nice design, but I already own the digibook

I was so excited there was a new BR and then saw the director's cut crap. I'm a huge fan of tatas but to make everyone happy why not have a 2 disc - The tatas version and the theatrical version.

I feel your pain. On the laserdisc commentary, Forman and Schaffer got into it about the Salieri/Constanze subplot, and Forman was adamant about why he cut it. Forman felt that it weakened Salieri's character, and detracted from the main conflict. The "director's cut" was a studio gimmick, much like Costner's extended version of Dances With Wolves. Costner told EW he had nothing to do with the extended cut, that it was a "studio thing", and the same thing applies here.

Still waiting for the ACTUAL director's cuts of Amadeus and Dances With Wolves -- the ones released to theaters.

Oh man I ADORE the 'Directors' cut of Dances With Wolves! Good on the studio I say! I felt all the extra characterisation really helped the film. It's the only version I'll watch now. Amadeus however, I'll happily watch in either version.

I will also say that Dances is the only studio extended version I will happily watch.... Just ask Terry Gilliam about studio interference!!! It is more often than not a very bad thing!

Duh! It's Mozart. Enough said

F Murray Abraham's Oscar winning performance as Salieri is master class in acting. It's an amazing piece of work.

How do you suppose you are going to acquire the theatrical cut?

We learn everything before Dunbar does in the extended cut, even of the existence of Stands With a Fist. In the theatrical cut, we stay with Dunbar, and learn things as he does. It's much more intimate and personal. Costner doesn't "disown" the extended version, but he also said he had nothing to do with it.

EDIT ... As for Terry Gilliam...studios would get off his back if he wouldn't go over time and over budget so frequently. You run a tight ship, you don't need to worry about someone else steering it. Gilliam is a victim of his own excess.

The theatrical release is fantastic. The DC is tedious, not well compiled and a travesty but it does have tatas but I'm pretty sure you could search tatas on the web and find longer videos with many times the number of tatas for free without having to destroy an Oscar winning movie.

^This.

Also, I like how the theatrical cut
[Show spoiler]retains a bit of mystery about what actually transpired at the fort.
