Thumbs down Movies coming slowly

I'm very dissapointed with amount of movies coming on Blu-ray, for example Action genre has 260 movies, by now that should already be 2600. Going like this we gonna wait next century to get all movies on BD or most probably get new Disc format before we even get John Wayne's movies or Star Wars etc...
When is Indiana series (4 movies) coming, when will Burne's 3 series come...

Too long too long, folks at big studios I suggest you get more people there and start actually giving us much more movies, before we show BD format to our grandchildren.

Its been slow because of the format war.. Now that it is over, expect to see a steady increase in the volume of titles released each week.

I can only assume the OP wasn't old enough to have disposable income with the advent of DVD.

I understand this argument to an extent, but I don't really like it, cause that was a transition from tape to a disc (read can play previous VHS catalog, but you can still watch DVD catalog). This is disc to a better disc, it should adopt much faster!

To put a movie on Blu-ray the studios just don't wave a magic wand. There is a ton of stuff they have to do in order to make the transfer and get it right.

Like everyone else i'd love to see more movies but I also understand the effort involved. Some people need to wake up to reality and realize all the work it takes.

Oh and welcome to the forums.

It's still a small niche market. DVD still dominates the market right now. So it's not feasible to flood the market with a lot of stuff right now. It's going to take some time and more people moving into the format before we start seeing a lot of older catalog titles coming out on Blu-Ray. Like others have said it's like the early days of DVD. Look at how long it was before we finally did get Star Wars or Indiana Jones on DVD.

Not to mention if they just spit them out we will have a bunch of mediocre transfers... I am fine with them taking their time with any re-releases to make them the quality we have come used to and expect

Some need to remember it takes much more work to do a proper Blu-ray transfer. Don't forget all of the laser disc transfers which were crap that got ported over to DVD (non OAR, non-anamorphic, etc.). I don't want to suffer from that again. Let them do it right from the get-go. Furthermore, Blu-ray has ALL studio support now so in time this will be a lesser issue. Finally, this time of year is slow anyway so don't expect a ton.

Default But still...

OP's got a point, let's not pretend that Blu is still "brand new". I've long been vocal about some of the ridiculous releases given to us as "first choices". I still believe there should be some more bigger heavy hitters, instead of some of the drivel we've had.

March 11 will be a big day for me (at least 3 Blu's to buy.. I know some of you do a half dozen at a time but my purchases have often been 1 a MONTH due to not being wowed by selection... but that's just me)

BRING ON THE BIG GUNS!!!

Cheers, Doc.

Think small, be small. We all know DVD's are still at the forefront of the public's mind, but I'm always pleased to see how many people are browsing the Blu-rays at BB and we need to bring a fresh attitude to the game.

War's over... the excuses of "the good ol' days" are getting weaker and weaker. I'll say it again... BRING THE GOOD STUFF!!!

PS. the subject line was NOT a dig at BEAST

Blu-Ray is not "brand new" but it's still fairly new to the consumer market who is still predominately buying DVD's. Remember we're coming off a major format war and I'm sure studios were being cautious about how much they invested into the hidef market.
