I just watched this and I found it to be a really great movie.

The fact that it's based on a true story is enough reason to see it. I can't believe how far one sick bastard can go to ruin people's lives. I also can't believe that nobody really found the behavior demonstrated by this man to be suspicious at all.

PQ and AQ is great, fyi.

Well, call it a fail on my part. I didn't see in the title that it had already come out. Yep, I'll be streaming on Amazon soon.

Thanks for the heads up. Added to my rental list.

I've really wanted to see this since I first saw the excellent trailer. I love films like this and almost picked it up for $20 at BB but convinced myself to wait for the U&S.

Watched this last week, very disturbing. Great performances but the movie made me angry, especially considering this actually happened so many times. Not something I'd watch again, I'd recommend renting it.

Yeah, I watched this film a while back. It made my top ten for the year but honestly, I wanted to quit the human race after watching this. And the fact that this happened multiple times over a long period?

When I first saw it, I thought it was a exploitative piece of crap. I knew it was based on a true story, but figured the filmmakers took the original story and went as far as they could go in order to make a shocking film. I actually wanted to stop watching, not because I was disturbed, but because I felt my intelligence was being insulted.

Then, afterwards I did research and found out most of the film was actually accurate. I had more respect for it afterwards. Never had a reaction like that, hating a film while watching, then appreciating it after research.

Yep. I had heard about the walk outs at Sundance last year because audience members felt the film was exploitative and the fact that they couldn't wrap their minds around this film being completely factual.

It's a stunning film but I don't know if it's a rewatch.

I rented it this week.

It was a really disturbing movie to watch & it was hard to believe a sick person would do this multiple times to people.

There are some really sick people in this world.

I would have hung up on the guy at the beginning of the phone call or called his bluff.

I'm glad I watched it though. It's a good rental. Good performances & directing.

Watch for Ann Dowd in this movie; she is utterly amazing. Totally overlooked by the Academy yesterday.

The only thing I disliked about this movie was the fact that we never really learn why the caller does what he does... I guess we can just assume he's just mentally unstable and a complete ******* but all we see is him getting caught and that's that. It felt so anticlimactic.

I'm also amazed that anyone would be that dumb to just believe the guy was a cop simply because he said he was. I guess people really are that stupid in real life though.

This was pretty much my thoughts exactly.

First and foremost, I understand where you're coming from about the "why did he do it?" question. There's really no answer as to why people do half the things they do in this world. Our society is full of mentally unstable people who get off on others' suffering.
[Show spoiler]It appears to me that he was living out his sexual fantasies through the eyes of other people.

I also have to agree with you 100000000000% with the "how stupid can they be?" question. Throughout the entire movie, all I could think was, "how dumb can these people be?". It doesn't take a rocket science to
[Show spoiler]figure out that an ordinary cop will not have you strip search a person, force you to examine them, and have you spank them, among other things. Not only that, but they were on the phone for what? 10 hours or something? You can't possibly believe that the cop was at the girl's house the ENTIRE time trying to pin something her dope dealing brother did on her.

Many people are probably wondering how he knew the things he did. From what I read and from what I comprehended, he just gave a vague description of a person at a restaurant and the manager was able to pick one of his / her workers out from the crowd.

This movie reminded me so much of the film Trust. Both films aggravated the hell out of me. Compliance is based on true events, while Trust is more fictitious, but based on a subject that is more and more prevalent nowadays - cyber predators. I can't remember the last time I actually screamed at my TV before and since Trust.

I was more pissed off with Sandra than the guy. How stupid can one person be?

This film is a testament to human stupidity and gullibility. Its the true test of morals and what would you do in that situation if suddenly put in it.

the flick did surprise me I thought it was going to be more exploitative than it was kinda along the lines of a non gory "I Spit On Your Grave", you know to that extreme.

NOT that I'm complaining about Dreama Walker

It wasn't as exploitative as I thought it was going to be, it was very tastefully done and factually on point. I was impressed by the acting, but still yelled to my roomate...."F'n Serious???" I would hope in this situation I would act different and if i saw the situation unfold before me do something about it.

We always can be the judge from afar I suppose.

I wouldn't own it, but it's a pretty nerve racking film for an indie
