Default Star Wars with DTS

The day any of the Star Wars films comes to Blu Ray do you think they will finally give us a DTS track? I really hated that Lucas and Co only gave us Dolby Digital on the standard DVD's. Any thoughts?

I don't mind as long as it's lossless! (Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD MA or Linear PCM)

I'm sure they'll have a lossless/uncompressed track.

Well it's Fox and they use DTS-HDMA... I'd imagine if anything they'll do Dolby TrueHD (or regular Dolby Digital) and DTS-HD Master Audio. But that's a long long way off...

Well, we have to remember that Lucas owns 90% of the films, so he can do what he wants. Fox won't be able to tell him to put a DTS HD-MA track on it. IMHO, I think he will only give us a Dolby True-HD track. He has a long history and business dealings with Dolby. The Phantom Menace was the first theatrical release that was in Dolby Digital EX.

I think Lucas will only use Dolby Digital, so I'd expect a TrueHD track, which is fine by me.... I say either that or PCM.

DTS is oldschool.....PCM, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-MA are the modern codecs. Im sure Star Wars will come with one of those.

Forget the sound. I want clean, anamorphic editions of the theatrical versions of the original trilogy. The Special Editions are soooooooooooooo not special.

Lossless audio is a given, but the real question is: Will it be 5.1, 6.1, or 7.1?

Dolby TrueHD 5.1

At least that's what my Star Wars Blu says on the back.

I agree.

I expect this to be the first FOX Truehd title released given Lucas' long association with Dolby.

I expect that the films will be released 6.1.

Doesn't really matter - you're all gonna buy it regardless of the codec. Who are we kidding?

True, but it is fun to speculate. I mean, if Star Trek got 7.1 shouldn't Star Wars get the same?

Not to be an A$$hole but they haven't been announced. If they are 5.1, it will be Dolby TrueHD. If they are going to be 7.1, they'll be mastered in DTS HD Master (hopefully). I really hope for the later.

I also think you'll get Dolby, with many reasons mentioned before me.
The sound of it will probably fit best too.

But I love DTS though, I'd freaking make sure all my own freaking releases
would get freaking released in freaking DTS.
Even frickin' CDs! Don't fit? I'll make it fit! I guess that means releasing audio-DVDs...
Yeah, I love DTS... XD

I'll release a new format with the company, called "FDTSXD" (Freaking Digital Tr00 Sound LOL XD).
That's a mouthful.

I'm almost certain we will get Dolby TrueHD. Doesn't really matter though because there are some TrueHD tracks that rock. As long as we get lossless!

You know, thinking about it a little more, Lucas is also really into THX right?
Well, in fact it's part of his company.
And they first used the quality-stamp on the 'Star Wars'-films. So, go figure.
There is no reason they wouldn't make it one of the best audio-tracks on the current home-video-format.
