Newly Released Films Only on DVD in 2013.

While Blu-Ray is getting more and more popular, movie studios still don't offer new(er) released titles on Blu-Rays. Here's a few titles that didn't get a BD release. While these might not seem that important, they could be to other. And if there's already a thread, just close it.

The Inbetweeners Movie has been on blu for some time now in the UK (it's a low-budget british film, hence why it wasn't released here)

The First Time is a DTV release, so 90% of those will never get a blu release

The Imposter may eventually get a release on blu since it's been getting critical acclaim.

I was intrigued by this as well, but as I stated in my earlier post, most DTV or low budget films will never get a blu release. Hopefully with Juno Temple getting a bit more well known lately may help this one at some point.

The Bay and Frank and Robot are not getting Blu-ray releases. It blows my mind when Sony "we started the format" goes DVD only!

I'm sure this has ALOT to do with it getting a release.

So is The First Time any good? I never even heard of it. I'm a sucker for those kinds of movies

Inbetweeners Movie - UK is locked, the show is extremely popular and highest grossing movie in UK, also I saw it in theaters in the US.

The First Time - includes extremely young popular cast, including Victoria Justice.

I swear, Sony makes the worst decisions when it comes to blu. I'm still mad that they skipped A Good Old Fashioned Orgy on BD--and now Robot & Frank on top of that.

It's also kind of surprising that The Bay isn't getting a BD release. I mean, it's a horror film, and it has a well known director. But I guess that's not enough...

As for Robot and Frank, bizarrely, Sony themselves are putting out a Nordic Blu-ray in March, and according to the back cover of the Swedish variant (can be seen here), the release will be Region A friendly.

If you're US-based, you could pre-order it here from English Megastore, or the Finnish variant from Recordshopx here (very cheap shipping).

The Bay is coming from the UK later this year, it opens theatrically there on March 1st.

Also, The Imposter was just released in the UK.
