Default Little Women (1994)

Anyone else a fan of the 1994 adaptation of "Little Women" with Winona Ryder, Kirsten Dunst, Claire Danes, etc?

I'd also like to see the 1949 MGM version with June Allyson, Elizabeth Taylor, Janet Leigh, and Margaret O'Brien.

I've been anticipating a release date for this as well. I know it's appeared in HD on some cable channels, but I've always missed it. I have not seen 1949, but I'm interested since it has Taylor and Leigh. Is it better than the 1933 version?

As a Winona Ryder fan, I'm still waiting on Girl Interrupted and Reality Bites as well.

Most people prefer the 1933 version to the 1949 version. While I love them both, I have a bias towards the 1949 version because I'm a huge Taylor fan and it was the first of her films I saw. But the films are actually quite similar...the 1949 film used pretty much the same script (it was updated by Andrew Solt), the same costume designer (Walter Plunkett of "Gone with the Wind" fame), the same theme, and even the same actor as the schoolteacher that reprimands Amy, Olin Howland.

Try to check it out on TCM if you can! I'd love to see the 1949 version released on Blu-ray, but I doubt it'll happen. It might be great if they issued a 2-disc double feature with the 1933 version.

Saw this a long time ago, not a bad movie from what I rememeber. I will probably rent this first before picking it up on blu-ray if it ever comes out.
